Trust me on this people, LE could be tricking us again with DR, as they and the FBI tricked us into believing a white work van was involved, but never told us about DR's suspicious cars. I also just cant get over what appears to be stop and go prints from a car at the last footprint. I could be conpletely wrong about DR right now, I admit that.

In the mid 80's, we have the Chief of Police of Cold Spring worried about what the public would do to Fr. Hoefgen if they found out about him...worried about the criminal in the equation, apparently more so than the victim. No harm, no foul? It's just stunning, IMO, just stunning.

Are you sure there is a "criminal" in the equation?

Francis Hoefgen Acquitted

"Proving beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime occurred 24-26 years ago without significant corroborating physical evidence of the crime itself is always a difficult task.”

When you think you have identified a criminal, think again . . .

Find the significant corroborating physical evidence in the Wetterling case.

Anything else is a waste of time.

One need not be convicted of a crime to be a criminal.

"But technology available at the time did not yield a strong enough sample. New technologies allowed police to re-examine the DNA in 2012, leading to the identification."

Sanner hopes technology will continue to improve and allow for future testing of the items seized.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Sanner said he cannot go into more detail about the items and search. Sanner would not comment on reports by other media outlets about specific items taken during the search June 30 and July 1 at a farm at 29748-91st Ave. in St. Joseph Township.

Sometimes you have to lose to win.

If "lose to win" means the same thing in the same context as last time, it still seems counterproductive to go and release everything they have on D.R. just to satisfy the public. On the one hand, people need to know enough to be safe if he truly is a threat...but, on the other hand, he deserves a fair trial if he will eventually be arrested for this crime(and the public shouldn't be interfering with the evidence in order to sway the truth in whichever direction they want it to go).

A criminal is a criminal before the eyes of the law only once convicted.

These people in Moose Lake are monsters, They have committed the most horrendous of crimes.

Make the dang crime have longer sentences. That way, they don't have to go to Moose Lake. They can stay in prison.

I'm from Moose Lake :( LOL! I used to work in the prison back when it was a State Mental Hospital... Scary place back then too.

Exactly how many boys were sexually assaulted in that area?

I don't mean the ones that were scared and ran away or assumed something was happening. How many actually were sexually assaulted?

Assumed something was happening?

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. All I've ever found for that number is "several," which doesn't help much.

Joy has not released any data. I believe the MSM listed 5 in the 80s. People have emailed Joy about attacks, she has never released whether she screened the information.

There was one assault for sure in Paynesville, the boy who was attacked inside in the stairwell. Not sure what was meant by "in the area"? Paynesville? Or all of Stearns County? It would be difficult to say how many, because the B family molested several - including members of their own family, DAH had many, many boys, and I'm sure some molestations went unreported. There were also many abduction attempts where the boys got away.

"When he opened the door to the building, a man was standing on the stairway that led to the upstairs. He was wearing a dark blue down-filled coat, and a “candy-striped face mask” that looked like it had been made out of short shag carpet. The suspect grabbed the boy by the neck and threw him to the floor. When he started to scream for help, the suspect told him to be quiet or he would kill him. After the attack, the man asked what grade he was in, then stole his wallet and took off running."

So "after the attack" means this guy had just molested this person after throwing him to the floor?

Oh! I guess I "assumed" that. Sorry if he wasn't sexually molested. Joy seemed to imply he was.

I think so. Considering the way the other instance in which this boy was attacked is worded(at which point, they say it happened twice), it looks to me like they're trying to describe it as rape without directly saying the word.

I doubt, in any case, that he was approaching these kids solely to throw them on the ground and take trinkets from them before threatening to shoot them.
