Yes. They were able to get the height and size of the individual. DR was tall and skinny, the abductor was shorter and stocky.

Short and stocky for the abductor?

I don't think we have that information. Do you have a quote for that?

DR is skinny? I don't see that in his running bare chested photo posted on here several times.

This could all be solved very simply. Have DNA taken from the most popular names in Stearns county, eliminating huge families in a swatch.

If in fact LA has the DNA from Jared's assault, it wouldn't take long to start zeroing in on the perp.

I read somewhere that the sheriff said that there was evidence (the lack of tire tracks) that DR either was the culprit or knew who the culprit was implying there could have been someone else at his house. Do they know the whereabouts of DRs brothers that night?Especially the brothers younger than DR. One fits the stocky description better than DR.

I would just assume they would have been living on their own far away from the farm, with alibis in place, unlike DR.

Are you sure the conducted the tests in Paynesville? My guess is they would have taken him to St. Cloud.

If they have DNA that has not deteriorated from Jerrod they may be able to quickly rule TH and DH in or out in his case, that type of testing was so new then, I doubt it was done in a hospital as small as Paynesville. It was a different time, parents may have wanted to make as little of the incidents as possible and testing may not have been done for that reason it probably would have meant going to Mpls or St Cloud.

According to the 911 call, (Transcript in post # 563 of this thread) Trevor said the abductor was about the same size as Merle, which was 195 pounds and 5’10”. IMO, that's not short and stocky. If you look back in the thread here, we have already discussed how the abductor was wearing what the boys described as a "puffy black coat." A coat like that would make someone look more "stocky" than they actually were. (Probably the idea behind wearing it as a disguise along with the face mask.)

I thought we established long ago that DR and his brother, Kevin, are mis-identified in the running photos? DR's photo is labeled with his brother's name and vice versa: http://www.runningintheusa.com/05/mi0730b.html

DR is the thin one; his brother is heavier.

I do not know why you think that. The one who is labelled as DR looks like him.
Do you have some information that shows that?

Why do people think DR kept this stuff?.

Rassier says the file contained newspaper clippings, videotapes of news and a letter from Patty Wetterling.

It also includef part of his daily journal. I think its a personal treasure or collection of trophies, something he can look at and bask in. What kind of personality does being a pack rat speak for?

Have you looked at the one who is labeled Kevin Rassier? It looks exactly like DR.

I looked at the photos and think they are labeled correctly. Dan is a slightly larger version of Kevin. They're brothers...they look alike.. but the difference while slight is still there.

I totally agree

Does anyone else feel this thread is going round and round and covering and recovering things already settled/proven/discussed to death? Or is it just me?

I went through the same mental process.....and posted something similar a long while ago....ELOCsoul responded by saying keep pushing on. So keep pushing on....it's not a negative that there's lots of discussion. It's a good thing that posters are willing to hash + re-hash...it's like cross examination-it eventually brings out the truth.

It's not just you. Individuals are picking and choosing what evidence they wish to believe and what the want to discredit. Evidence is evidence, visual or physical, it all plays a part. I'm sitting back and waiting until folks climb out of their entrenched positions. Any cold case investigator will verify that once you focus too closely on any one bit of evidence to the exclusion of all else, you have lost sight of the big picture.

What I "think" at this juncture:

1. Contaminated crime scene.
2. No shortage of POI's
3. DR does not meet the physical description the boys gave of the abductor.
4. Possible like cases in the regional area.
5. Investigation missed a lot of opportunities.
6. Poor cooperation between departments in the regional area.
7. Lack of current day technology and techniques in forensics.

Take a look at this picture and tell me what "you" see.

I see:
1. Two sets of tire prints showing front and rear tires in a turn where the prints end.
2. Sheriff Department investigators standing on the print evidence field.
3. No signs showing that at the time this picture was taken that print casts had been made.
4. A lot of tire tracks
5. A lot of foot prints
6. No sign in this picture of the ATV and horse shoe prints that show up in later pictures.

You may see something different.

What's the context? Where is this? It doesn't look like the same tracks near JEW's last print. Could this be up by the house?

Do we know what part of the driveway this is? It looks pretty wide in this picture, is it up by the house or by the abduction scene?

I see alot of bokeh in the photo making it very hard to determine anything. But it would appear there is a fresh set of tire tracks surrounded by fainter and older tracks. I think it shows the tracks of a vehicle coming and leaving, just as kevin has said, they're his.
