I just read in the FB group that Jessica's family has hired a private investigator. I have hope that they'll be more motivated than the police.

I just read in the FB group that Jessica's family has hired a private investigator. I have hope that they'll be more motivated than the police.

It’s my understanding that the police were dragging their feet after Jessica was reported missing (which was already a few days after the last contact) so the family hired a PI and then MPD finally assigned an investigator. Hopefully the joint efforts yield her safe return.

I’m disappointed in the lack of support and advocacy from the social justice community that she is so active in…there are a couple of major players who definitely could be calling more attention to her disappearance with their SM presence and local influence.

i'm also hopeful after hearing about the PI, but it's discouraging that so much time was wasted. anything could have happened in those critical first days after her disappearance.

Does she have to walk outside to throw away her trash or is there a chute on each floor? If she was making a quick trip to the dumpster she wouldn't have taken anything with her.

Edit by me to add: There was nothing on CCTV? No video of her anywhere? My guess is that she is inside that building somewhere. Any employees show interest in her? Trying to make a move on her? Someone she would open her door for? Lured her in to an employee only access area? This is crazy scary. I hope she is ok.

That's what I'm thinking they must have meant. The family doesn't have a website as far as I know, and from what I've read on the public Facebook group (which I believe was posted by a group admin who's apparently been talking with the family), Jessica's family does not want to do media interviews for now. I'm not sure why. However, it was also posted by a group admin there that a media point person has been designated for the case, so that's a good step IMO.

I'm trying to think of why her family isn't shouting her name on the street corners, plastering her photo everywhere, and doing every media appearance they could. I can think of a few possibilities, but since they are also not discouraging canvassing planned for Saturday and the vigil planned for next week and apparently have assigned a media contact, I'm not sure what their rationale is. I'm so scared for my friend but trying to remain hopeful and speak positivity and safety into being.

i have some thoughts on this based on (things i would need to be verified to say here), but i don't feel comfortable sharing them publicly.
