New Evidence Suggests Missing MPLS Woman Is "Presumed Deceased"
It's an ending that many didn't want. A missing Minneapolis woman, Jessica Marshik, who hadn't been seen since mid-December has been "presumed deceased" according to a post to a page dedicated to finding her. The post indicates that recent evidence found gave police enough to presume Jessica would not be found alive.

The glaring unanswered question is, is there any danger to the public?

My sweet friend :’(
@silsby, do you know what the police shared with the family? Trying to process that she’s gone while also wondering how something can be both definitive and presumed (part of me is holding out hope until she is found).
I can’t get into any specifics out of respect for the family, but hope she is alive is slim to none, as heartbreaking as that is.

Devastating. Do you know if the police, media, or family will be providing any updates?

So sad. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for all who loved her. RIP Jessica.

From her FB dated today: Finding Jessica Marshik | Facebook

"We want to thank everyone for their support and help with trying to bring Jessica home. We regret to inform everyone that Jessica’s family received definitive evidence from police that Jessica should unfortunately be presumed no longer with us.
At this time we cannot share any information about Jessica’s presumed death, out of respect for her family’s request for privacy."
Darn it.
I was hoping for a better turn out.
WTH happened ??
I respect family request but was hoping for a better outcome

I am hoping more of the information will be made public soon, and I’m so sorry I can’t share more. I know how much everyone here cares. Thanks, everyone, so much.

So sorry @silsby and @jessfriend …if only our love and care for Jess was enough to protect her </3

Don't be sorry. You are respecting family's wishes.
We get it.
We do care. And are so sorry for the loss of your friend.

This is most unfortunate and regrettable news, especially for her family and friends.

In the days and weeks to come we should know more about what happened here. Hopefully the information learned in Jessica's case will help prevent it from happening again.

Maybe they found video of her going into the river? Some of the bridges have video. If so, I would be so frustrated the footage wasn’t reviewed sooner. MOO

To all of Jessica's friends on here - I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP, Jessica.

While I'm curious to know what happened, her family's wish for privacy is obviously much more important than people's curiosity.

Maybe we'll eventually learn more, maybe not. Based on currently known info, IMO it seems safe to say that she wasn't harmed by a random stranger (since Silsby said there's no danger to the public).

That makes sense and I agree in the abstract, but sometimes people choose for their friends to be their family.

That's very true. Do you think that was the case for Jessica?

... IMO, Jessica's family and friends are either still numb right now or experiencing unimaginable pain, and they have not even recovered her body in order to begin the healing process which could take a lifetime. In no way, shape, or form should the public be demanding answers of them. Now or ever. MOO

I don’t think we, as the public, are owed any sort of answer whatsoever. Giving help doesn’t equal the right to receive answers that a private family may want to just keep to themselves and mourn in private. We are owed nothing and deserve nothing.
MOO

Speaking for myself..... I am often curious as to what has happened to a person. And, I think curiosity and problem/puzzle solving is what draws many of us here. But, I don't think any of us are owed an explanation. Yes, these families are desperate and in pain and are trying to find their loved ones so, yes, they reach out and reveal themselves and their loved ones in ways that are intimate and vulnerable even though they might never do so under regular circumstances. As we all know too well, most of the cases we see here don't end well. We see many people on the worst day of their lives or we see the basest of all human instincts in the actions of some abusers and murderers.

I would never, ever hold a family accountable to me about what happened to their loved one. I wish her family peace. And, I hope all who knew this young woman find peace as it seems like many see her as family which is awesome.

Thank you. She was definitely like family to me--the sister I never had. I totally respect her family's grieving process and agree that the public isn't "owed" anything. But I also sincerely hope that her family will feel comfortable revealing what happened--at least to those of us close to Jessica--so we can get some closure. If anyone in her family is reading this, we're still here for you... Jessica is so loved by so many, and that will never change.
