Manny, age 16, of Columbia Heights, MN, was last seen on May 8, 2025, near the 4900 block of University Ave NE wearing a white ribbed tank top with red/black plaid pants. Law enforcement officials say they believe 16-year-old Jordan Dupree Collins Jr., who went missing weeks ago in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, was taken "against his will," and a person of interest has been established.

In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon held with Collins' family, Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise says he doesn't think this is a case of a teenager running away.

An apartment building near University and 49th is now under investigation. Berry says Collins has lived at that apartment building with his father since mid-April.

Wise says since Collins' disappearance, his cellphone has only been turned on once for three minutes. He hasn't talked to any family members or his girlfriend, and he hasn't logged onto social media. His mother, Ashley Berry, says her son also hasn't claimed his allowance through CashApp.

(After reading the article and watching the press conference, I think that it is easy to guess who the person of interest probably is.)

His poor Momma, she is so heartbroken in her interview. I hope they find this young man soon.
I saw an interview with her that came across my FB feed. My heart hurts for her the worry she carries is palpable. Praying this resolves with Manny found safe even as I know things are looking another way :(

It’s been 20 days with no contact, that doesn’t sound good.

There has to be some reason the “person of interest” would do this to him. He’s only 16. He fell asleep on FaceTime with his girlfriend at 4am. The girlfriend might be able to speak on the specific circumstances in the hours before his disappearance.

Does anyone know at what point the investigation was started? I hope no valuable time was lost.

I feel we will learn more in due time. Praying for Manny! 🙏

The article said Manny's father had recently come back into his life. So I could see during school vacation his mom wanting him to spend more time (a month when he went missing) with his Dad. Since there didn't appear to be any custody disputes or family/civil court events in MN Civil Court on record related to Manny I am not sure where the abduction element comes in (as often we see that happening with a custody dispute). Anoka County mother appeals for return of her missing son as police look for answers

SNIPPED: Wilson said he and Collins have a close relationship and speak frequently. He said Collins never indicated that his father was violent, but noted the two have had disagreements about religion. It remains unclear if those differences are connected to the teen’s disappearance

"Detectives are canvassing areas of interest. Forensic testing of possible evidence is ongoing. Additional people have also been interviewed and leads continue to be followed up. Larger searches are being considered, and we will reach out to the public if assistance is needed. To protect the integrity of the investigation, public details are limited. As more public details become available, we will share them," the update said.

Investigators interviewed several individuals, including Collins' father, but law enforcement would not comment on whether he was cooperating.

Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise said they have some investigative leads and a person of interest in Collins' disappearance. He would not identify this individual to "protect the integrity of the investigation" but said so far, this person has "not been helpful." No one has been arrested or formally charged.
Disappearance of Manny Collins: Police share latest on the search

I'm hoping he is being held somewhere rather than no longer with us.

Mom says he didn't want to talk about what ever was in his mind ...he went walking to clear his head

What was the relationship like with his dad and himself? What happened?

Praying Manny is found safe and found soon!

nothing new :( placing some snips that seem to suggest who LE's POI may be

  • Investigators collected evidence from the apartment where missing 16-year-old Manny Collins was last staying with his father, as the search for the teen continues.
  • Manny’s uncle, Mike Wilson Jr., believes the teen is alive and possibly being held against his will. He accuses Collins’ father of not cooperating with the investigation.

"My nephew is missing, and the last person he was seen with—it’s not rocket science," Wilson said. "We’re not building rockets, man. It’s common sense. He’s yelling, ‘I need a lawyer, I need a lawyer.’"

Manny — was last seen on May 8 near the 4900 block of University Avenue Northeast. An apartment building near the intersection is now under investigation. Ashley Berry, Collins' mother, says her son has lived at the building with his father since mid-April, with plans to return to her in June.

A neighbor said Collins' father had not been at the apartment in weeks.
Officials believe Twin Cities boy's disappearance to be "against his will," person of interest established

I worry that Manny is no more. The above seems to suggest LE may not be looking for a living kid, but rather a disappeared one. And his father, by proximity alone, was in the position to be the one who created the disappearance. MOO

Collins' father has reportedly not been cooperative with the investigation. FOX 9 was there when investigators appeared to leave the father’s apartment with bags of evidence.

"They found a lot of stuff in his house that’s concerning and that’s why they’re going hard like they are now," explained Berry (Manny's mom.)

*****
Investigators are continuing to conduct searches in various locations. While Collins' family was hopeful for his safety last week, Berry’s outlook has changed.

When asked if she thought her son was ok, Berry responded, "No. It’s hard for me to say that. I don’t, I don’t think he is."

Despite her deepening concern, Berry continues to hope and pray for the safe return of her only child.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Department, law enforcement from several agencies are searching a landfill in Elk River in connection to Manny Collins' disappearance.

*****
Sheriff's department officials say they're still conducting interviews and continue to test forensic evidence.

They've also been trying to contact the boy's father, who Manny had most recently been living with. The apartment the two shared was declared a crime scene.

"I feel like I'm running out of places to look," said Manny's mother Ashley Berry. Berry says she is still holding out hope, but is beginning to fear that Manny's father may have done something to her son.

"In the beginning, he was cooperating, he was helping look for him, and now that stuff has hit the fan, it's like, you (he) don't want to talk to anybody," Berry said. "So that's a red flag."

Saturday marks the fourth straight day investigators are searching a landfill near Elk River where they believe some evidence may be located.

dang it I don't like this landfill search one little bit.
In looking at the media photos of the landfill search my first thought was "they are NOT looking for remains". I have some experience there (not with landfills, but in the outdoors where remains may be hidden by wreckage/ debris'/foliage building up over time) They'd be working in a different manner, and cadaver dogs would likely be involved. To me it looked as if they were sifting for evidence. This article confirms that.

Maybe they are searching for Manny's belongings. If he was staying with his father and that home is a crime scene, perhaps the POI is believed to have thrown away Manny's personal belongings? The only other thing I can think they might be searching for is a weapon or other evidence of a murder :(

Heath added that Friday's search was for evidence, and not for human remains or a body. The sheriff's office said this is only one "facet" of the investigation, and officials are following up on other leads.

"We're committed to finding Manny, and that's why we're throwing so many resources at the investigation," Heath said .

Authorities said Friday 6/13/25, pending delays due to weather, they’ll continue to search the Waste Management landfill in Elk River related to Collins’ disappearance.

Several law enforcement agencies were at the landfill last week conducting a search in connection with the case. Authorities say they are unable to share specifics on what the searches have revealed so far, but they’re going through debris in search of possible evidence.
