kemo, what do you think about the allegations against Father D Ward from my link, the fact that he was the advisor for mock trial and Josh being the co-captain of mock trial?

According to Jbrown's blog, it was Adam McDonald who logged into Josh's PC and deleted files from his hard drive using a " scrubber" web site. This was uncovered by the computer expert hired by JOSH's family.

The story that the deleted files were related to the creation of fake id's is repeated in most on line discussion of the case but the only source I can find is that it is attributed to the expert hired by the family. If the hard drive was "scrubbed" how would the expert know what the sites were?

One site I looked at speculated that the deleted sites were really 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and the "fake id site" was just something someone made up because it would be less embarrassing than 🤬🤬🤬🤬. That sounded reasonable to me because fake id's seem so 1950's. I am not aware that college students still use them. In Calif, Drivers Lic or state issued id's are the only acceptable id's to purchase alcohol. They are fairly difficult to produce and the penalties are harsh for possessing one. College Students don't usually take the risk. It may be different in the mid west. I have no idea what the penalties might be for creating them.

The whole business of tampering with the PC of someone who has gone missing under strange circumstances is very troubling. I would hope the Sheriff Dept questioned Adam and anyone else involved and granted immunity for any minor transgressions. If they did not, or if Adam refused to talk to Law Enforcement, I would be concerned something is amiss.

We know that Josh was highly critical of the Church's handling of the sex scandals, but so were most Catholics; that would hardly be a reason to have him " silenced" . There seems to be absolutely no evidence that Josh was privy to any incriminating information or anyone on campus harmed Josh or had a motive to harm Josh.

Were the sex scandals known at that time?

WERE STUDENTS KILLED? OR TOO DRUNK TO SWIM? MORE THAN 20 MALE COLLEGE STUDENTS HAVE DISAPPEARED FROM PARTIES AND BARS, ONLY TO TURN UP DEAD IN RIVERS.

  • TODD RICHMOND Associated Press
  • Dec 11, 2006
One of the hot spots is La Crosse, which sits on the Mississippi River and is home to three colleges. Eight college-age men have turned up dead in area rivers after vanishing from bars. Police have ruled all the deaths accidental.
The St. Cloud area has seen cases, too. In 2002, St. John's University student Josh Guimond disappeared after leaving a party in Collegeville, Minn. This spring, 21-year-old St. Cloud State student Scot Radel disappeared after leaving a downtown bar. His body was later found in the Mississippi River.
Radel's death spurred Gilbertson to dig deeper into the drownings. He and two graduate students scoured the Internet, newspaper stories and police reports. They found 22 victims who went to college within 50 miles of I-94 between Moorhead, Minn., and East Lansing, Mich.
The victims were white or Asian men in their early 20s, generally around 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds and athletic, with good grades. No victims were women.
They also found that 15 of the cities where the drownings took place were within 100 miles of I-94. Eighteen of the 22 drownings occurred during the first two weeks of the month, and three-quarters of the disappearance occurred when the moon was less than half-full.

Gilbertson said he can't judge some cases because he doesn't have enough information. He also acknowledges some are accidental. But others could be murders.

If the drownings were all random, there should be greater racial and academic diversity among the victims and they should be scattered all over the map, Gilbertson said.

SEARCH FOR ANSWERS: Douglas Gilbertson, an assistant professor of criminal justice at St. Cloud State University, has studied the deaths for the last year. He says patterns in timing and location indicate they can't all be accidents.

COINCIDENCES: Investigators say Gilbertson's findings are a collection of coincidences. There's nothing more sinister at work than binge drinking and drunken students simply falling in, they say.

Jbrown's,

While, as your blog points out, the computer expert from a radio station that Josh's father had check the PC found that Adam had used that PC to visit a " scrubber" web site two days after Josh vanished, there is no evidence that he actually "scrubbed" any files. Still, it is the prevailing believe among people following the case is that files related to creating fake id's were deleted and there is speculation that 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was also deleted. I would consider these "Innocuous" explanations for someone tampering with his PC but we do not know if someone admitted doing so or if it is all speculation.

Josh was co-captain of the Mock Trial team and Father D Ward was involved with the Mock Trials for many years but claims to have been in the Bahamas when Josh was involved. Father Ward has been accused of inappropriate contact with students but do we know if he was in Minnesota in November 2002 or if he ever met Josh?

I came into to a site that mentions that roommate Nick arrive back in the Dorm at 1:00am and apparently Josh was not there. Another site quotes Nick as saying Josh was very responsible and would not leave the dorm after 11:30. (Of course no reference is given) He seems to believe Josh never returned from the card game but there is the key swipe. If the key information is accurate, I see it as most probable that Josh went " somewhere" after 11:29). It is unlikely that he lent someone his key and went to the party without one. And, how would he have gotten in?

There is so much to investigate and rule things out to come to a better understanding of what happened. I have every reason to believe that if a constant effort is put into it, that Josh can be found.

Just got a response from Stearns County Records Division. Josh's case is considered an "active investigation" so they will not be able to release any information.
As I predicted.

I have then created a three step recovery process for the case to "feel" alive again-

1. Get in the media again and make some noise about the case.

2. Talk to everyone again.

3. Conduct yearly dives of Stumpf river. Also provides unprecedented training to eager search teams.

And finally, let's get some good luck.

Of course.

To be very cautiously optimistic, could the recent arrest in the JW case, have opened new doors for inquiry in the investigation, could LE be on to something now that they would not, or could not look into years ago?
imo.

Josh needs someone like ELOC to go and look and make connections.

This case will be dead silent until it gets an author. LE has nothing further planned imo, they're waiting for something to land on their desk.

It's possible they wasted 10 years believing DR could be responsible for this and the Wetterling case. I am aware of that connection being made online. LE had released information of a midnight runner that night.

I listened to the True Crime Garage podcast about Josh's case and came to that exact conclusion. It's likely that the person who deleted the stuff from Josh's computer is either responsible for his disappearance or knows who is. At the very least, that person has some 'splainin' to do as to why he/she would destroy evidence in a missing person's case--or for that matter, touch Josh's computer at all.

And good point, as well as ironic, Sasquatch, about LE waiting for the solution to land on their desk.

I spent 4 hours this morning walking the shores of stumpf river. This is no easy task let me tell you, time went by fast because of the struggle it is. Im dirty, I'm scratched, and for awhile quite exhausted. I did find quicksand like mud near the water and at one point my foott even broke false ground into a shallow hole. Now that I've done it and found nothing I can at least feel like I did try pretty good once. Here is a video I took of Stumpf lake and where it drains to the next lake, its dangerous terrain all around-

Wow, thanks for doing that Sasquatch, you are definitely an adventurous person who takes action! Plus the video was cool too, the water pretty by day, but no doubt, a place to avoid at nightfall.

sas, we have had a lot of rain this summer, so we would have a lot of mud. The lake was checked by professionals twice. Does not mean he could not be out there. He could be. The dogs did find his scent by the lake. However, they found his scent at the Abbey where students are prohibited from entering. There is also the citizen who heard the incinerator in use on an off day. Behind the pine curtain does have some stories of monks bringing students in areas where they don't belong.

Yes I also saw two parking lots he's going through if he walked to his dorm. Did someone stop him? Is he in the lake? The lack of direction really hurts this case.
