Exactly, according to the father that is what happened. And now we have an investigator who says he wouldn't change anything about ehat they did early on. Did they talk to everyone they should have? Or are the monks too privy and important for that?

I would have thought SJU would have taken a more aggressive and open approach to locating Josh. A SJU STUDENT DISAPPEARED WHILE ON YOUR SCHOOL CAMPUS screams to me. Religious and lay individuals, plus on campus and off campus individuals should have been interviewed. SJU should have had meetings, committees, safety brochures, safety signs, counselors, discussions. They should have provided coffee/snacks to searchers, give free access to cafeterias, established a hot line, provided custodial employees to help in the search. And, above all, SJU should have treated the family with more respect than it appears the family received.

T Andert was prefect of the Metten Court Apartments owned by the School- the last place Josh was last seen and J Tupa was the prefect (monk assigned to live in and oversee the dorm) of Josh's dorm.

  • #843
D Ward was the advisor of the mock trial team that Josh was co-captain of. No shortage of suspects as each have been credibly accused of sexual misconduct.

I agree Trino. Instead they did not allow an immediate search of the Abbey, dragged their feet on the water search and put a protection order against Josh's dad.

Andert, Ward, and Tupa have not been interviewed by LE as far as I know. But should we expect them to?

The focus should be searching for Josh since it does not appear that anyone is going to be too forthcoming with information, imo.
What if nobody knows a single thing?!
Josh must be found, he just might be around there and completely overlooked.
Australian Owen Rooney, went missing from a hospital in Canada and was only located years later close to where he first went missing.

Other missing people, have been found in odd, overlooked places like wedged between buildings, stuck in chimneys, stuffed behind furnaces, even lodged in trees, imo speculation.

Could a body be obscured in the water if tons of sand/dirt/debris was dumped on top of it?

IMO it would take an awful lot of sand/dirt/debris to obscure a body. It would probably take a truck load.

Good question about what if no one knows anything. We don't know that because Andert, Ward, and Tupa were not interviewed. I just don't understand Stearns Co officers and their relationship with SJU. Afraid? Complicit? Awed?

The families frustration is absolutely warranted, considering three monks that oversaw the buildings that night were never even talked to. Then now we have an investigator who is satisfied with the work that has been done in this case.

Hey guys, I think I might be on to something here. Solving the wetterling case took a huge relief off Dan Rassier in his involvement in that case, but also in the case of Joshua Guimond-

On April 28, 2003 — five months after Josh’s disappearance — the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department released information that it “received a call from an individual stating that they were driving off campus, just after midnight, on the night Joshua Guimond disappeared and that they saw someone jogging towards campus on County Road 159 wearing bright colored jogging clothing.”

We have cleared Dan, and now this is the kicker, JBrown just told us that Father Bruce W. is a regular jogger. Is Father Bruce W. an accused monk? And what if Wolmering and Guimond crossed paths that night?

Sas, where did you get that quote? I don't remember any witnesses seeing a jogger. If that is true, I wonder if that tip was buried on purpose, vetted to be not true or what happened to it. Bruce W was also counseling students on campus and reportedly "in love" with a student. I have not figured out a name for the student. His room was sealed off and searched after his death by Stearns County. I tried to get the results through FOIA and my request was denied.

To me, the campus grounds were searched and if Josh was in Stumpf lake, his body would have been found by now.
The fact that the School or the Abbot would not give permission to Stearns County to check the Abbey. This was highly suspicious and unusual to me. This along with the sexual abuse by the monks and the cover up by the school is why I am researching monks

"Indeed, it would strengthen the circumstantial case against Rassier in Jacob’s abduction if he is unable to provide an alibi for the night Josh disappeared from St. John’s."

We need to talk to this person and show the person a picture of Bruce W to see if that is who he thinks he may have seen.

Maybe DR abducted a stronger, younger, more physical person while joggling? DR should be off limits.

One month before Josh went missing, St. John’s was in the headlines. The college announced a major settlement of a dozen cases of abuse by monks at the Abbey on campus. Josh’s father would also learn that monks, who were credibly accused of past abuse, supervised both his son’s dorm and the one where he was last seen.

He never knew of the school’s history before

I can't help but think lately that if Josh had led the normal path back to mauer house that there was some water at one point on both sides of the road, but if there was an accident, the tell tale signs should have been right there. In front of those hundreds of searching volunteers including the national guard. Did joshua stray on his own from the regular path back to mauer house and had an accident where noones looked yet? Or it is an abduction? but are we looking into that with the kind of work they put into the lakes? You have to, you have to interview those monks first.

I believe Bruce Wollmering's room was searched after his death, but no information was ever released with regard to whether anything was found. Alibis should have been obtained from all the monks who were in the vicinity the night Josh disappeared. Many sordid secrets are closely guarded within this nest of sex offenders. Nothing changes because St. John's has never been held accountable by anyone -- not by the parents, the students, alumni, community, local leaders or the law. Is settling a large lawsuit the same as holding the abbey accountable for its dishonest and criminal behavior spanning dozens of years? Or is it just a band-aid meant to hide an infected wound? The person who suggested the focus be directed at finding Josh's location rather than on the perpetrator is most likely right -- because I don't think there is a monk on that campus who is willing to tell the truth about any suspicious events surrounding Josh's disappearance. As far as where Josh might be, the incinerator was never checked -- of course it wasn't -- everywhere was searched except where it might have been most fruitful.

The sheriffs office under Sanners control offered up that turtles may have eaten Josh's remains and never searched physically for him again. Today as we look here with no josh and 13 years of no more physical searches, I have a problem with that. I'm not just devoted to an abduction even today. Even today if Josh is in the turtle infested swamp or somewhere else, I can bet there is still something there to find.

How long would it take for turtles to consume an entire body before the turtles statement was made? I have no idea. Would turtles also consume clothing? I don't think so. What about shoes? Nah. Something would have been found.

Something wouldn't have been found because no searches besides one by Trident and a few by LE were executed. In the case of Brandon Swanson out of Marshall MN they try yearly.
