I don't understand that either. If I shoot and kill someone, I can't tell the police/prosecutor "I don't want to talk about it" and go home. If he doesn't want to be interviewed, fine. Then he should be charged with murder, go to jail, and wait for his trial. He apparently doesn't have a reasonable explanation for what he did or HE'D EXPLAIN IT.

Actually, you do not have to say anything,People are innocent in the eyes of the law. The state has to prove its case.

Why is he not detained? I think most people would be

I know you don't have to say anything. But then you get charged and thrown in jail until your trial unless bail is set and you pay it. They don't let you go home. Is that where he is?

A dead woman is not evidence enough?

Normally yes. With officer involved shootings I'm gonna say probably not. Sigh.

Looking at the aerial map, she was killed at least 3-4 houses down the alley from her home. Seems odd to me that she would go out in the alley so late at night if she was hearing sounds of distress. I hope Noor decides to talk and the witness comes forward.

( Sent from KSTP )

"Harrity told investigators that as the vehicle reached 51st Street, he was startled by a loud sound near the squad, followed immediately by Damond approaching the driver's side window. Harrity told investigators Noor then discharged his weapon, the bullet from which struck Damond through the open driver's side window."

Hmmmm...... I'm still not sure I get this.

I really do not think this has anything to do with race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender.....IMO we are possibly looking at another example of inappropriate training? Bring able to remain calm. No knee-jerk reactions?

A not unusual thing to do where she comes from.

The question was asked "Is this the first time an officer in your department has refused to be interviewed after an incident". Did anyone catch the answer to that? I didn't hear it.

Not sure why this matters really (even if it's the first time) but I would guess with this many officers and history that no it is not the first time. Just my guess.

I agree with you. There's no way his alleged religious beliefs have anything to do with this. But it's wrong, for sure

Personally, I think the loud noise was the sound of a weapon being fired within inches of his head. I can only imagine how loud that was.

I wondered this too.

Many of the news articles mention there are other witnesses. It will be interesting to hear what they say about what happened before and after the killing.

I'd like to know what his partner said when he was interviewed (assuming he has been interviewed by now). I don't remember any questions being asked about him during the press conference tonight. Did I miss something?

Thread is open again for civilized discussion.

This thread is dedicated specifically to the case of JustineDamond being shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer.

Stay on topic, and stop the personalizing andbickering, and bringing in your own agendas that consist of victim bashing, generalLE bashing, gang affiliations, other cases, racism, gun control, etc.

Thank you.

Thank you for staying on topic and discussing this case. At the beginning of the press conference it was mentioned that because the BAC was investigaing and that is an independent body and the investigation was still ongoing, the mayor/asst police chief could not answer any questions about that. They did say that they were aware the BAC had released some information (from talking with the parter - which is where the "heard a noise, shot through open window" info came from).....hope that helps

You can click on the link and rewatch it if you feel inclined....
