So they are driving in the alley with lights off, and for whatever reason he has his window open, even though per his story he didn't converse with the woman who approached the car because she got shot right away. Is that plausible?

Only thing I can think of is that the window was down to potentially listen for the assault/etc. I do often see police officers with their windows down, esp. when they are patrolling......MOO

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-...ws-distressed-woman-screamed-for-help/8726008

"The high-profile US lawyer who is now representing the family of Australian police shooting victim Justine Damond has rubbished claims the officer who killed her thought he was being ambushed."

""Mr Bennett said Ms Damond called her fiance, Don Damond, who was away, twice after hearing the noises behind her house.

"He recommended that she call 911," Mr Bennett said."

This is still big news in Australia. People are incredulous that it happened at all, and are becoming a bit angry at the lack of information given the family and even the consular officials.

It's still big news here too, in all the major papers today.

Why do people keep trying to make this about religion? First I read extremely sexist comments about women in pyjamas (for the record most women DON'T wear slinky and body hugging negliges, esp when exiting their homes), but now it's about sharia law? When the cop was raised in the US? The sexism/racism on this thread is out of hand. MOO

Somali's know to expect it, some people will use any opportunity to scream "Sharia law!"

"Already, hateful posts criticizing Islam and sharia law are filling social media in response to the police shooting. Several far-right blogs featured sensational headlines that blamed the officer’s ethnicity for the deadly use of force."

After Minneapolis officer in police shooting is named, Somali community braces for backlash

makes perfect sense...either they get out of the car and walk the alley so they can hear what she called about or I guess drive with windows open.

so true.. it's obvious she walked out because she was the one who called. I want to hear the 911 call..and what info dispatch relayed to the cops. Could sharia law have played a part?

What?
Let me guess.
She was wearing a sexy nightgown and a Muslim cop shot her because of sharia law?
Is that where we are going with this?
Your prejudices are getting in the way of your sleuthing.

I found the comments on her wearing pyjamas quite odd. Most pyjamas are made for comfort and are far more modest than tight figure hugging street clothes.

She gave her address when she called 911. Doesn't sound like they were going to even stop by her actual address to investigate what she heard. At least from what I read, they were about to leave the area.

From the transcripts of her 911 call, she wasn't sure if it was an assault or people were having sex. Perhaps they were actually having sex and then left.

Do we know if anyone else heard what sounded like a scream and a possible sexual assault? I do wonder what motivated her to run out into the alley that way when she did, was there something else that now we will never know? Such a tragic mystery.

Because he and his family are very strict muslims. In pictures the women in his family are all wearing long dresses and long head coverings. It has to be considered IMO. Especially since the shooter says being a cop "is his calling" and shoots an unarmed woman in pjs at least twice maybe more in the abdomen. He also has a history of previously man handeling another woman.

She was worried about a rapist in the alley so she put on a corset and a thong and went to meet the cops?
:gaah:

Sometimes I see people in their pj's at the grocery store.

Especially with young people, pajama bottoms and a t shirt are a style nowadays.

She sounds like a person who was eager to help others. She even saved a family of ducks recently. My guess that was her motivation, she wanted police to investigate thoroughly.

yes I thought that very odd and i myself have called non emergency police about something in my neighborhood and they did not even check in with me prior to leaving...I did go out and catch them to see how the situation was resolved. They should I think check in with the caller. I guess I was in danger doing that!

Which still makes me wonder. why was the gun supposedly in his lap if they were leaving?

And if he thought they were about to be ambushed, why weren't his camera turned on?

I am not sure that she ran into the alley. I would think that her just being out there probably scared off whomever was making the noise.

Our emergency number operators always ask if you want the police to visit you after they have dealt with the situation.

How does having a calling to be cop implicate guilt?
All my cop relatives say the same thing.
Have you read the case filing?
Shannon Barnett and Amanda Sanchez are the two women cops that are also part of that suit, shouldn't we suspect Christian women and Biblical law too, in that case, by your logic?
Here's the case, if you are interested.
It's crazy.

I hope LE thoroughly investigated the homes along the alleyway. What if what the victim heard was a murder or something going on. Did they even look into it? What if someone is being held prisoner in the area, and that's what she heard. Maybe I'm thinking too much?
