I thought she was having a conversation with his partner. You don't think he heard her voice and figured out it was a female?

Unless she was pointing a gun at them, or was reaching inside the vehicle with a knife, there's NO reason for him to shoot. I hope he goes to jail for this.

Agree, he had to know she was a woman and not a threat. JMO, it's going to be important to figure out how long she had been talking to Noor's partner before he shot her.

K_Z is a verified anesthetist, meaning mods have verified who she is and the nature of her profession and certification. She's contributed a lot of good medical information about trauma to many cases here over the years. Give her a little time and she'll probably post some scholarly articles.

People keep stating unverified info as facts. We do not know if Justine was speaking with the officer (however we do know the Driver's side window was down).....in fact, in his report to BCA Haggerity made no mention of speaking with the victim. Unfortunately, we still know very little about what happened.....just trying to maintain the integrity of the info here - because that is what sets WS apart from other forums......MOO

I have wondered if this didn't come in to play a bit. The MPD overlooking some problems with Noor because such a fuss had been made about him when he came on board initially.

this could be very true...the mayor even hosted an open house for him joining that precinct..it was the area she represented on council before elected to mayor. i mentioned on another thread...MPD had many experienced officers leave some time back due to some union issues not going their way...I can't remember details but this is a force with many new officers and extreme pressure to make sure they look like the community...such pressure can have some bad results all around.

In all fairness, Haggerity could have activated his bodycam right after the shooting and the previous 30 seconds (ie: the shooting) would have been available for viewing. I completly disagree with Noor's actions, but both officers made the choice not to activate their bodycams. MOO

one thing that is note worthy is the lack of any press conferences in the last 2 days...normally they come out with updates...MPD knows this one is really rough as the Damond family is well represented and there would have to be extraordinary situation not to charge him with something...and to top that international pressure...the Damond family wants her body back in Australia or so one report said. There are two families getting ready to hold MPD and Noor accountable for this death to say nothing of our entire community. There will be a woman's rally tonight to honor Justine who was so well respected in the community...I expect it will be very well attended and peaceful as she was.

It depends on her experience and field of expertise.

K_z will have to clear things up but my husband went to medical school and became a physician. If he'd done an anesthesia residency then he would've been an anesthesiologist. Instead, he chose another specialty and became board certified. An anesthetist is usually an RN with further master's level training for anesthesia (CRNA Certified registered nurse anesthetist). I'm not sure, but I don't know of any anesthetists that are not RN's (speaking of the USA)..

No I trust the the WS verification process completely. It is an ambiguous title. And when it comes to medical expert opinion there should be no ambiguity.

She does know what she is talking about. I have an emergency medical background myself and in patients with multiple or large puncture wounds CPR is not going to achieve much and could possibly exacerbate blood loss. Priority #1 is to control the bleeding IMO

But, why were they even trying to save her life is my question? In the numerous other killings by cop we have seen over the past few years the cops leave them bleeding on the ground and usually handcuff them. The posters who usually take the side of the cop always tell us that is protocol and they are not allowed to offer any life saving measures.

I'm not convinced the conversation happened all, I suspect it could be misinformation. Nothing in BCA report with Hannitys comments noted any communication with Damond. Just MOO

As an RN, I have to say that pumping on someones chest who has an internal bleed from a gunshot wound to the abdomen would hasten her death.

I didn't see in the article or for that matter anywhere that the officer's pumped on her chest.

I agree. The idea that she was having a conversation with Harrity came out in the very early news reports. But Harrity's official statement says she was just approaching the car when she was shot. I think this is a case of the media's rush to put out "news" that led them to publishing unverified rumors. This has led to a lot of confusion and frustration.

It's an interesting question. We won't know until they talk, but it seems like they were treating the situation as an accidental shooting. And yes, in these situations, LE should be required to give basic CPR until EMS arrives. It's only the humane thing to do.

It will be interesting to find out who initiated CPR and if both tried to help.
