These two cops were send out to investigate potential rape. What if the victim approached the car looking for help?

After the fact? I think it would depend on the circumstances and a lot of times victims of rape are also murdered so they can't describe their attacker. I have no idea if rape victims run toward a police vehicle after they have been raped and how often that happens? But LE i would hope are taught how to assess a situation and act accordingly.
I guess the only way to try and prevent such a situation from happening is for any female to be extra cautious and not be alone and vulnerable out there these days as much as one can be. But i know even then it doesn't always prevent a rapist.
I was wondering if there was an actual crime that night in the alley? What if someone was watching a movie and had their t.v. turned up loud and the screaming came from that and that is what Justine heard? It hasn't been stated in msm that a crime happened there to my knowledge.

I wonder what their degree would be in?

i believe that fast track if they have a degree is merely an excuse to get some guys on the street quick...my previous post explains why they needed to hire fast.

ETA: I'm not suggesting others should take action other than calling 911. Still can't believe the kids in Florida watched a man drown and didn't call.

BBM, I think that would depend on the situation for me. If there's a gun shots being fired out there no way.
I haven't read about the Florida case, but sounds horrible.

one can assume that all neighbors were interviewed...these sounds were coming from the alley per Justine and she mentioned the alley "next door"....it could have been many things...she even questioned whether is was just consensual sex going on...sometimes that can sound like a major attack...with the heat here lately windows are normally shut but who knows. I have heard nothing that supports a crime was reported in the area that night except for this one!!

Yesterday there was a car parked in the alley next to our wall. It was there for hours, my daughter saw it when she took trash, in the early morning to the dumpster in the alley. There was one male sitting in the passenger seat. We were wondering if we should call 911, or maybe the non emergency number. We were even thinking maybe we were letting the murder of Justine mess with our minds :/ When my hubby came home we told him about the car, he went out to the alley and spoke to the male in the car. Turned out he was security for a cable company who had LOTS of cable laying out in the open to be placed underground on Monday. I did not want my hubby to go out there. I wanted him to call 911. Thankfully it all turned out OK. Today there is a white truck sitting in the same place. If I were alone I would not hesitate to call 911, but I would never go out there, even if the police were out there.

Definitely depends on the situation, although I don't know anyone in my neighborhood who isn't armed.

I have yet to hear if an 8 minute response time is normal for that area...is a call like this even high priority? Love to hear an audio from the car of the officers enroute to the scene after they got the call...I mean the comments to each other....did they not rush as just felt that another lady reporting loud neighbors getting it on ...the usual for Sat. night? In that area 8 min. seems a bit long but don't know the average or what priority the call had. And did the dispatch tell Justine to stay inside and she felt she had to go out and at least find out from them what they found? The timeline is so tight they really did not have time to throughly check the area.

WOW! a business degree and 7 months of training to go into LE. I wonder if that training required any classes in criminal justice?

I find it very scary that so many are "armed" in this country. I can't imagine coming here to live from Australia . Justine was so into the healing and quiet side of life...getting in touch with your inner self etc. and from reports often talked about the gun culture here and how she did not understand it. So ironic though that it was law enforcement that killed her with their own gun.

No, he was NOT suited to be on the street. If he was, Justine would be alive and we wouldn't be here wondering if charges will be filed.

Do you remember Kitty Genivese in New York who was attacked and killed? Back in the 60's was it? People were appalled that ho one did anything. It was a huge issue.

To be honest at this point I think I will just keep calling and wait. About a year ago I came home pulled into my drive and saw a police officer get out of his car parked in front of my home..walking across my lawn and I merely asked him what was going on and is everything okay. He did not respond. Upon his return I did step out again and ask as at that point I wanted to know if it was safe to be outside or what. He then severely admonished me that I should NEVER TALK TO AN OFFICER OR APPROACH THEM...as they are in the process of a call and I could have impeded their apprehension. It was a false alarm...but I got the message loud and clear to stay away and clearly citizen engagement should not be expected at all. Maybe it was this particular officer's demeanor but it stuck with me.

well three complaints in less than 2 years with one lawsuit filed in federal court day before this happened...does that tell you about how he handled things?

so I live just over the MSP border is a first tier suburb that has had its share of issues too.

I can't answer those questions...the important thing is he is representing MPD and they are the ones under the microscope right now...this is at least the third very high profile officer involved shooting in the last 3 years..with many more less high profile and they just had a major incident where an officer shot someone's dogs in their yard for no reason as the dogs approached and were waving their tails...exciting to see him. This was on video and lots of fallout from that too.

I can't imagine how her family feels. The other officers must be so pissed as well. IMO, totally unjustified firing of the gun! His life was NOT in danger. I'm praying that an investigation is thorough and charges will be filed very soon.

That press conference... WOW! The mayor needs to listen to the people and resign. Government employees work for the populace. If the populace feels the employees are not doing their job, then they need to be fired. No they do not need to be on paid leave, nor receive a salary or buy out, or any going away package. Nope.. fired like any one of us would be.

They will have their chance in Nov. and I expect she will lose and honestly not sure who MSP will get. We have some tough issues here in MSP and I don't think they can all be blamed on Betsy. The next person is walking into a landmine right at city hall.
