Law expert is confused why this warrant was signed off on. Feels there was not probable cause.

"When I read that search warrant, I really cannot find probable cause to search her home," he continued.

According to court documents, investigators applied for the warrant on the following grounds:

The property or things above-described was used as a means of committing a crime

The possession of the property or things above-described constitutes a crime.

The property or things above-described is in the possession of a person with intent to use such property as a means of committing a crime, or the property or things so intended to be used are in the possession of another to whom they have been delivered for the purpose of concealing them or preventing their being discovered.

The property or things above-described constitutes evidence which tends to show a crime has been committed, or tends to show that a particular person has committed a crime.

What the heck? They searched the victim's home? Why are they treating her like she's a criminal?

I hope her family sues the city. Have they started a legal fund yet? If so, I'm ready to donate.

Unbelievable. This law enforcement agency is like a bunch of storm troopers.

From the link:

"Whose bodily fluids are they looking for? Is she a suspect? I don't understand why they're looking for controlled substances inside her home. I don't understand why they're looking for writings inside her home. The warrant does not explain that to me."

Do you have a link for that?

I'm basing mine off statistics from the Minneapolis PD. It's a city with much lower risk than others.

https://www.odmp.org/agency/2518-minneapolis-police-department-minnesota

Since 1888, they've only had 27 deaths by gunfire

The last Minneapolis police officer killed by gunfire was in 2002, Officer Jayne Schmidt

https://www.odmp.org/officer/16343-police-officer-melissa-jayne-schmidt

Trying to whip up false hysteria in police forces across America is getting too many innocent people killed. It has to stop. Citizens are fed up with the slaughter of innocent people at the hands of law enforcement.

I think the false hysteria comes after the shootings though. LEOs aren't sitting around quaking in fear around the clock. After a shooting everyone talks as if all cops are walking targets, dodging bullets and fighting off gang members all day. We know it's not like that, and being a cop isn't the most dangerous job and most of them never face any danger at all, but they need an excuse for shooting people and that one seems to be working. Being a cop is scary, so if someone is confused and not listening, or a kid has a pen, or a woman has an accent - shoot to kill!

What the hell... ?

"It's going to cause an international incident," he said. "I mean the prime minister of Australia already talked about this case on international television, and I think Australians are going to go berserk if they think the focus is on this woman as a suspect."

Searching her home reeks of desperation.

"The District Attorney investigates each shooting in the county for criminal charges. But the law grants officers broad leeway in their decision to shoot, and no officer has been charged in connection with a shooting since 2000 in Los Angeles County."

Things are changing.

L.A. Police Chief Beck backs charges against officer who fatally shot Venice homeless man

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck has recommended criminal charges against an officer who killed an unarmed homeless man in Venice, marking the first time as chief that Beck has called for charges in a fatal on-duty shooting.

LAPD investigators concluded that Brendon Glenn was on his stomach, attempting to push himself off the ground, when Officer Clifford Proctor stepped back and fired twice, hitting the 29-year-old in the back, Beck told The Times.

Some people see that as a self-fulfilling prophecy. Treat citizens with violence and they'll become afraid. These days I would be terrified if a cop pulled me over for speeding or somesuch. This incident in Minneapolis has now made me afraid to call 911 if there's criminal activity in my neighborhood.

So after one such event, you are afraid of calling 911. And yet the police are being mocked for being afraid of being shot at, even though there have been 26 officers shot this year in the us.

How many citizens have been shot by police officers so far this year? How many of them were unarmed?

No, I don't trust them any longer. I'm also a taxpayer who pays their salary. No officers have been killed in Minneapolis in the last 15 years. None in my community in likely much longer. But they're all receiving the same kind of training from national consultants.

No I don't trust LE anymore. They're not being mocked in my community and I doubt they were in Minneapolis. They're all becoming very paranoid, very unprofessional without justification for doing so. It's on its way to becoming a national emergency.

  • #328
And any idea why a group of people would become paranoid, trigger happy and angry? Could it be a reaction to the events they experience on the job, day after day?

10000000000000% lack of proper training. Hands down, no question, not a hesitation in my mind. Do you know the rules of engagement in war? There are so many steps before opening fire in an actual combat zone, yet police are given a pass because a few ambushes happen and they're jumpy. No. Unacceptable.

Justified or unjustified? Being 'unarmed' does not mean the shooting was necessarily unjustified.

I think it already is. More people need to pay attention and call it out for what it is.

It's for sure not going to get better on its own.

per 6pm local news Minneapolis search warrants which are now public said they searched the alley and took fingerprints off the car based on report that she "banged" on the car...so should be able to know that it was her...also searched her house for any medications or other substances...bodily fluids...any signs of an attack in the house...this was all done with total cooperation of the family. Must be awful to be family of the victim and have such an investigation going on and still no word from Noor.

I honestly dgaf if she literally threw her entire body on the hood of the car screaming. They are allegedly trained to assess a situation and not just open fire because they're jumpy and scared. If you can't handle unpredictable situations involving the public don't. be. a. police. officer.

  • #333
Police are afraid for their own lives. Why not? They have families too. With the new changed gun laws, everyone gets to have a gun, This is a result of that IMO

I respectfully disagree. A life was lost due to a knee jerk reaction from a police officer.

Also,in terms of minneapolis:

For Minneapolis, we found that the violent crime rate is one of the highest in the nation, across communities of all sizes (both large and small). Violent offenses tracked included rape, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated assault, including assault with a deadly weapon.
Minneapolis, MN crime rates and statistics - NeighborhoodScout

i don't know about all of the statistics but I can tell you that crime violent or other is definitely on the rise here...thus you see the police department in crisis...a mayor under fire and it is a common discussion among residents. Sorry don't care what the numbers are we have stabbings and murders routinely here and per capita bet it is as bad as some of the mega cities in US

Is there a big discrepancy between the numbers of people dying from police interactions and those mistakenly killed in wartime rules of engagement? Aren't there a lot of collateral damage victims in the military?

Seems odd when she's clearly a victim. I'm sure her family and friends feel the victimization. So sad!

From the link:

the family is cooperating at this point with whatever the investigation requires. I will agree I imagine they are very concerned because some of the things they were going for implied that Justine has committed the crime. I suspect they will keep quiet until they see if Noor will be charged...if not I too as a family member would take further legal action.

Are the police at war with citizens?

So did they find her fingerprints on the patrol car? If not, they shouldn't be telling the news media that she "banged" on the car.
