They're going to find whatever it takes to blame this on her and make sure their officer doesn't face any charges, and depending on what they find it could also mean they won't have to pay a settlement to her family.

I can't BELIEVE they were able to get a search warrant!

This is so messed up.

local reports indicate that family cooperated.

I can't believe it either. I need to read up on this. A judge would have had to sign off on it, yes? I can totally see cops drafting some BS to get the warrant written, but to jump the hurdle of the judge? Almost makes me sick to think of the implications.

Warrant says that she "became deceased in the alley."
The judge wouldn't even know she was shot. Judge could have thought she slapped the car then dropped dead. In which case search of the house for substances could make sense.

"The search warrant, which was obtained by Minnesota Public Radio, doesn’t specifically say the woman was Justine Damond, but: “Upon police arrival, a female ‘slaps’ the back of the patrol squad … After that, it is unknown to BCA agents what exactly happened, but the female became deceased in the alley.”"

Prime example of why families should get a lawyer immediately when a loved one is killed by police WITHOUT being accused of some sort of admission of guilt. Citizens have the right to protect themselves from unlawful incrimination. Unreal that this is happening.

If police got a search warrant then there is nothing a family could have done. Her fiancee wasn't even at home on the night that she was killed.

The Damond family has a very well respected attorney so I am sure that whatever is happening is with full approval of their attorney.

Law expert is confused why this warrant was signed off on. Feels there was not probable cause.

"When I read that search warrant, I really cannot find probable cause to search her home," he continued.

According to court documents, investigators applied for the warrant on the following grounds:

The property or things above-described was used as a means of committing a crime

The possession of the property or things above-described constitutes a crime.

The property or things above-described is in the possession of a person with intent to use such property as a means of committing a crime, or the property or things so intended to be used are in the possession of another to whom they have been delivered for the purpose of concealing them or preventing their being discovered.

The property or things above-described constitutes evidence which tends to show a crime has been committed, or tends to show that a particular person has committed a crime.

Wait ... what?? What is this referring to??

Are they saying that they think they'll find evidence and/or items that prove Justine was going to commit a crime?

Or am I understanding that wrong?

But they made sure they got the search warrant and searched her home immediately, before the family had time to hire a lawyer. Likely before the family knew many details about what happened. The family's lawyer has a lot of work to do, as LE made sure they were a few steps ahead of the surviving family to protect their own. Add in trying to trash her reputation in leaks to the news media, this is going to be a big fight.

Quote from Bob Bennett...attorney for Damond Family ""The officers who get scared [easily] should go be accountants," Bennett said. "They shouldn't be peace officers with guns. Because that's how 40-year-old Australian spiritual healers get shot."

Pretty much what most of us here are saying.

They should not be able to get a warrant to look inside the victim's home. There is no evidence that she committed any crimes or did anything wrong. JMO

Did they even have an attorney when the home was searched? Did they even know what was going on? This is unfathomable.

I hope they sue Noor, I hope they sue the MPD, I hope they sue the city and I hope they sue the hell out of the state.

As if murdering her wasn't enough, they then had to go and invade her privacy.

Where does it say the family cooperated with the search?

That's pretty much the gist of it. Apparently, this has been their strategy from the start - make the victim look suspicious, like she deserved to be killed. Tarnish her reputation and smear her in the court of public opinion so the bad cop can go free.

Warrant was saying she "became deceased in the alley." If she just became deceased for unknown reason, it would make sense to investigate the home to see if there was an explanation why she "became deceased." Of course we know she was actually shot.

Has anyone been able to find a copy of the search warrant? I'm looking. One article says it was obtained by Minnesota Public Radio.

Please share a link if you find it. Thanks!

Justine Damond shooting: search warrant says 'female' slapped squad car

Minneapolis and its twin city of St Paul have been shaken by multiple police shootings and "overuse of force". The American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota has demanded the entire police department undergo new use of force and de-escalation training.

The union is also urging new police chief Medaria Arradondo to immediately "implement a new body camera policy that mandates activation at the beginning of every interaction with members of the public".

If they found any psych meds in her place they win.

Noor's friends were leaking speculation about her taking Ambien. That must have been the closest thing to it they could find. Wonder when the tox reports will get back?

Hmmmm...I'm not buying it. A search warrant wouldn't be needed if the family allowed the search.

Not necessarily. Even if the family cooperated, and they saw something they wanted for evidence, they may want to get the warrant to make sure it can be used if needed in a trial.
