I personally think its bogus. It would keep me from participating because I would think its most likely ruse. Maybe I'm the only one. I just can't help think its misplaced. Make it as easy as possible for people to participate. IMO

I work in first responder position similar to search and rescue (ski patrol) and it is standard operating procedure to have everyone sign in and out so there is not a second lost person/need for rescuer. You have to make sure all volunteers are accounted for and not left behind. It also serves to not duplicate efforts and to be able to eliminate areas that have been searched and keep organized so that should something be found in an area, LE knows who searched the area. In a matter like this, where there may be evidence found it serves to preserve the chain of custody and any witness testimony should it become a criminal matter.

I totally get why people wouldn’t want to (I don’t have supermarket apps because I don’t want what I purchase to be tracked) but I think it is necessary in this situation though it may not be something everyone is willing to do.

Not sure why because it’s pretty clear how this played out, but this case made me think of Heidi Broussard last night. Many at the time suspected Austin (children’s father) and it ended up being her best friend that made her disappear. Austin was beside himself and all over the news trying to find Heidi, we aren’t seeing that here. I still think of her family often.

Yes we aren’t allowed to post stuff from Facebook or talk about anyone that isn’t name a suspect….once named a suspect then we can post and link stuff. However there is a lot of info in comments on FB.

I thought the same thing because we have a dash cam. The police said they have 100’s of tips they are going through so I’m sure that maybe part of it. Anyone that traveled them roads that day, hopefully they are checking.
