Police Chief Pat Budke told TV station KSTP that the shooting happened inside the Allina Clinic Crossroads campus. He said the situation was contained shortly before noon and that there was no further threat to the public’s safety.''

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said there was an "active shooter situation and some improvised explosive devices." The FBI and ATF are involved in the investigation because of the explosive devices, he said.

Images of the scene show several of the clinic's front windows were shattered.

Holler told CNN there were no bombs on scene. However, at about 2:20 p.m., first responders took an item from inside the clinic and placed it into a spherical contraption attached to the back of a Minneapolis Police bomb squad truck, video from CNN affiliate WCCO shows.

Former roommate: Buffalo suspect had history of drugs, mental problems
''BUFFALO, Minn. (FOX 9)
- A former roommate of Greg Ulrich, the suspect arrested in connection to a shooting that left multiple injured and one dead in Buffalo, said the man is "nothing but trouble."
''He said Ulrich had a particular grudge against doctors in Buffalo.

"He didn’t like the doctors because they wouldn’t give him all the pain killers he wanted. They’d give him a month supply, and it would be gone in a few days," Zandstra said. ''

1 dead, 4 wounded after shooting at Buffalo, Minn., clinic; suspect said to be angry at care

Court documents, though, show that in 2018 Ulrich was ordered to stay away from the clinic and one of the physicians who practices there. The case was dismissed in 2020 because Ulrich was found to be mentally incompetent.

A pre-sentencing document recommended against allowing him to use or possess firearms.

Given law enforcement’s past knowledge of Ulrich — officials said encounters go back more than 15 years — it’s “most likely that this incident was targeted at that [Allina] facility, or at someone within that facility,” said Buffalo Police Chief Pat Budke.

BUFFALO, Minn. — A medical assistant known for her devotion to her children has been identified by family members as the person who died after being shot Tuesday at the Allina Clinic in Buffalo.

Lindsay Overbay was one of five people who suffered bullet wounds when a 67-year-old man known to local law enforcement allegedly walked into the clinic and opened fire. One person was treated at a hospital and released, while three others are currently being cared for at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. If this is true - what in the actual fluff?????

KARE 11 Investigates: Ulrich threatened 'revenge' in 2018 | kare11.com

Ulrich’s former roommate, Raymond Zandstra claims that law enforcement signed off on a permit, and that Ulrich purchased a gun."He bought a Smith and Wesson. It was brand new in a box," Zandstra told KARE 11.

The KARE 11 Investigates team still has yet to independently verify the legitimacy of that claim, and it is still unclear if a permit was in fact granted.

Because of so much of the system failing and basically him being out of his mind and angry a 37 year old hard working mom is dead. Gone. Not on this plane.

Prayers for her family and the other victims that they heal, and survive.

I'm no lawyer, but thanks to @Tippy Lynn link the judge deemed him incompetent. Couldn't he have been held in a State Hospital for the mentally ill.

Back surgery can be horrendous. Pain Managent. This Doc could lose his license catering to him. Or his life for not. I bet he wouldn't have shot a local drug dealer.

Buffalo, Minnesota shooting: Suspect had prior threat against clinic, police report says - CNN
''Buffalo, Minnesota (CNN)The man accused of killing one person and wounding four others in a shooting at a Minnesota health care clinic had threatened a mass shooting at the same health care center in 2018, according to a police report obtained by CNN.''

''Ulrich is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning, and was being held at the Wright County Jail. It was not clear whether he has an attorney.''

"As caretakers of victims of gunshots and other violent injuries, nurses and healthcare workers are acutely aware that violence could easily come to the doors of their workplace too," the Minnesota Nurses Association said. "Seeing other workers become victims shakes any hospital worker to their core."

Charges against alleged health clinic shooter detail terror at the scene

According to the criminal filing, Ulrich took local public transit to the clinic. Walking in, staff asked if he needed help. He pulled out a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun and starting shooting people around him, some as they fled in terror. One victim suffered six gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Ulrich also detonated three bombs in the clinic. Members of the Minneapolis bomb squad also found a cylinder filled with black powder and a fuse, but unexploded, matching in detail the remnants of another detonated bomb

The complaint says police found Ulrich was carrying nearly 50 more rounds of ammunition, including a loaded pistol magazine, when he was arrested.

Officials found a message on Ulrich’s cellphone that appeared to be recorded just before he walked into the clinic. “It was a rambling message where he talked about his own injuries,” Lutes said. “It certainly shows his premeditation and his intent to go to that clinic to inflict damage.”
