KARE 11 Investigates: Videos show Allina suspect before shooting | kare11.com

Videos obtained by KARE 11 reveal the last minutes as suspected mass shooter Gregory Ulrich rides a bus to the Buffalo clinic.

The never-before-seen videos show Gregory Ulrich, 67, nonchalantly walking from a Buffalo Super 8 motel onto a public transportation bus on Tuesday morning, Feb. 9, while carrying a briefcase that investigators say was full of explosives.

An alleged gunman's addiction to opioid medication was the “driving force” behind last week’s shooting at a Minnesota health clinic that left one person dead and four injured, a veteran investigator said in his application for a search warrant.

Wright County Deputy Patrick Bailey said authorities found a plastic bag containing six oxycodone pills when they searched Gregory Ulrich’s hotel room after the Feb. 9 shooting at an Allina Health clinic in Buffalo. Bailey also described a video in which Ulrich mentioned taking more than 30 pills at a time.

Warrant: Opioid addiction may have motivated clinic shooting

"It is clear to your affiant that Ulrich has a dependency on opioid style pain medications, and was upset that his legal supply had been stopped," Bailey writes in the warrant application. "Your affiant also believes that Ulrich's dependency on pain medication is the driving force behind his assault which resulted in the death of Lindsay Overbay and multiple serious injuries to others."

Gregory Ulrich Found Competent To Stand Trial In Buffalo Clinic Shooting

Gregory Ulrich, the man who admitted to opening fire inside a Buffalo health clinic in February, appeared in court Wednesday where he was found competent to stand trial.

Ulrich, 68, faces charges of second-degree murder, attempted murder and setting off explosive devices in connection to the Feb. 9 shooting at the Buffalo clinic that left four people hurt and one woman dead. Buffalo is located just west of the Twin Cities metro area.

According to a criminal complaint, Ulrich walked into the Allina Clinic Crossroads and started shooting. Investigators say Ulrich also set off homemade bombs inside the clinic.

The attack killed 37-year-old Overbay, a medical assistant at the clinic and a mother of two young children.

Ulrich faces up to 40 years in prison for the murder charge alone. His next hearing is Sept. 21.
