I didn't see the victim approach them...

I know, right? Alex approached and tried to help up the person that ICE pushed down. He had his back to ICE/CBP at that point.

Did anyone see Pretti approach officers brandishing a 9mm gun? Seriously asking.

The family first learned of the shooting when they were called by an Associated Press reporter.
They watched the video and said the man killed appeared to be their son. They then tried reaching out to officials in Minnesota.

“I can’t get any information from anybody,” Michael Pretti said Saturday. “The police, they said call Border Patrol, Border Patrol’s closed, the hospitals won’t answer any questions.”

Eventually, the family called the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, who they said confirmed had a body matching the name and description of their son.

As of Saturday evening, the family said they had still not heard from anyone at a federal law enforcement agency about their son’s death.

And this isn’t what you asked, but after watching 2 different videos from different angles (the first one that came out from across the street and the other one that was taken from the lady in the pink coat), I never even see Alex approach the officers at all. He was simply trying to help the 2 ladies that had gotten pushed down and pepper sprayed. He was helping them up and then got pepper sprayed himself. He had been there taking videos on what looked to be a camera (not a phone) but I never saw him even go up to the officers at any point. They rushed at him as he was helping the women up.

They attacked him. Not the other way round.

If anyone had to self-defend, that’d be Alex.

Salt in the wound. So sorry to hear it happened like this.

Thanks for posting. Absolutely a great watch.

I can't believe these state investigators were denied access to the scene even after a judge signed a warrant permitting said access.
It's hard to believe for people like us, who respect the law, but not for the current administration. I can't even count how often they break the law.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, a Minneapolis native, responds to shooting: "ICE > MN"

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth responded to a federal immigration enforcement officer shooting of Alex Pretti Saturday afternoon by saying, "Thank God for the patriots of @ICEgov — we have your back 100%. You are SAVING the country."

Hegseth, who was born in Minneapolis, added, "Shame on the leadership of Minnesota — and the lunatics in the street" before concluding: "ICE > MN."

I hope Alex's parents didn't listen to Noem's "alternate story" (imo) about what happened, when it is video-clear that Alex had his back to the agents and was helping someone up when the agents attacked him.

Trump accuses local officials of inciting 'insurrection'

We've just heard from President Donald Trump, who accuses the mayor of Minneapolis and the governor of Minnesota of fomenting an "insurrection".

In a social media post, Trump shared an image of the pistol that federal officials say the suspect had.

"Where are the local Police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect ICE Officers? The Mayor and the Governor called them off? It is stated that many of these Police were not allowed to do their job, that ICE had to protect themselves — Not an easy thing to do!," he writes.

Without citing evidence, Trump accuses local officials of a "cover up" to hide theft and fraud.

He adds: "The mayor and governor are inciting insurection, with their pompous, dangerous and arrogant rhetoric... LET OUR ICE PATRIOTS DO THEIR JOB!"

Trump has repeatedly threatened to invoke the rarely used Insurrection Act to quell unrest over federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis.

There are no public events on Trump's schedule today, but he is due to hold a closed-door screening of a documentary about his wife Melania this evening.

Thats beyond rich 😡

Shove protesters, spray a man in the face, pin him to the ground under a pile of agents, take his gun away from the scene, shoot him multiple times while he's on the ground, call him a terrorist.

Is that the protocol they were trained to follow?

I know the victim was a VA nurse, but I'm wondering if he was a veteran, himself. That might explain why he was carrying a firearm.

No one is surprised by his response.

He was helping people, just like a nurse would do without hesitation.

ICE needs to be abolished IMMEDIATELY.
Usually I am about incremental, sustainable change, not wholesale abolition or impulsive changes.

But this is an emergency. There are fatalities. And, frankly, ICE itself grew in a rapid, unsustainable way, causing it to predictably be unable to do its stated job: enforce immigration law.

Shooting citizens to death is a horrific mission creep.

Exactly. He was one of the helpers, and they killed him for it. Not for an act of aggression, but for coming to the aid of a woman who'd been harmed by a bully with a gun and a sense of entitlement.

All he was doing was trying to help a woman back to her feet.

We can all see with our eyes that what Noem is saying is not true
IMO this man’s murder is horrifying to watch, but the shameless lying and gaslighting about him being a domestic terrorist assassin gunman who was trying to inflict maximum damage as he menacingly approached the police when we can all see that didn’t happen is making this especially nauseating and chilling.
