“He told him that it was in his wallet, but he had a pistol on him because he’s licensed to carry. The officer said don’t move. As he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times,” she said.

The officer can be heard yelling in the video: “I told him not to reach for it. I told him to get his hand out.”

So when he raises his hands he gets shot. Ohhhhhhkay

"Why would he not obey instructions?"

Why did Alton Sterling not obey instructions? Why did Dylan Noble not obey instructions?

"Yet, protocol was not followed for a stop like that."

people keep saying that but it is patently false, the officer has discretion depending on the exact circumstances.

In the above posted info, if the officer thinks it is a burglary suspect, he is supposed to get the people out of the car and call for back up.

I am assuming, maybe incorrectly, that he had a gun pointed at him. I wonder how people do with a gun pointed at them?

Have had that happen and yes by a cop...aggressive driver here, guilty. I absolutely froze and did EXACTLY as that officer told me to do.

Alton Sterling was probably having involuntary movements. Dylan was going for suicide by cop, maybe.

I am sure when the coroner/forensics are done they will know what position his arms were in when he was shot. jmo Seems that his arms were down and the shots that killed him were to his arms & body. Time will tell.

Knock on wood . Never have had that. I know I practice in my mind what I would do if some criminal did it and sitting still would not be an option.

Do you think civilians should have training while getting a license on how to act if police hold a gun to you? Guns are not part of my life.

it is at the officer's discretion based upon the exact circumstances to decide whether or not to do a felony stop, we dont know all the details so we cant say whether or not he broke protocol.

I am confused. You posted that his arms were going up?

Is training necessary? Seems like common sense would cover it to me.

He said he was stopping Phil cuz of the wide nose that fit a burglary profile. No?

Beyonce, Rihanna, Other Celebs Speak in Intense ‘23 Ways You Could Be Killed If You Are Black in America’ PSA

The video — which premiered on Mic.com on Wednesday, July 13 — was released in partnership with the We Are Here Movement and was made on the heels of the headline-making deaths of Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, and Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Both black men were shot and killed by white officers in the past two weeks.

Why? Police get hours of training.

Police get hours of training on what to do if another police officer points a gun at them?

And they get this when they go to get their driver's license? Or is it when they get their license to carry a firearm?

That is what was being discussed. Maybe I'm confused.

Alton Sterling was probably having involuntary movements. Dylan was going for suicide by cop, maybe.

it was more of a rhetorical thing, im very clear on why the other two didnt follow instructions.

(and it certainly wasnt involuntary movements on alton sterling's part save for possibly his very last movement)

There are threads filled with examples of citizens who were unarmed and did nothing wrong but still ended up assaulted or dead. I can't make sense of the defense in those cases but apparently yes, the list of acceptable executable offenses is ever-growing.

I can accept that there are bad cops and that there are instances of 'executable offenses'...I just think they are more rare than Black Lives Matter advertises. There have been instances where it has come out that BLM's depiction of the event were completely WRONG...Michael Brown for instance and yet the whole 'Hands up,Don't Shoot' meme is STILL used at every BLM event, despite it being a complete fabrication. That reliance upon a complete lie, their stubborn resistance to walk ANY of THEIR narratives back, despite evidence to the contrary combined with violent rhetoric at plenty of their events and their link to New Black Panthers has lead me to completely disregard anything they say. I started out backing them by the way until it became increasingly obvious to me that they have some ulterior motives that I simply cannot agree with.

actually he didnt say that, he said he had a reason to stop them. then he said they might look like the robbery suspects, the driver based on his nose, and then he said he didnt get a good look at the other person.

then he said he was going to wait for the other officer.

after that we know nothing. so it is not a fact at all that he stopped the vehicle for suspicion of armed robbery.

in fact, if you believe the passenger she claims the officer told them they were stopped for a broken tail light.

so the stop actually appears to be just about the definition of a pretext stop, in which the officer would have complete discretion on how to proceed.

a fair amount of time passes before that scanner audio and the actual stop and subsequent shooting - what happened in that time? i dont know, and i dont think anyone else does either...
