MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (KMSP) - The Montevideo Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a truck driver who has been missing since Dec. 16.

Richard Loren Ridens, 60, told his family he had been in the hospital in Tennessee. He dropped his trailer off in the Twin Cities metro and used his credit card on Dec. 16. He was reportedly heading to the St. Cloud area and his cell phone was last pinged near St. Joseph.

Authorities say it is not like him no to keep in contact with family.

Odd that his phone last pinged in St. Joseph. It's 15/20 minutes further than St. Cloud from the metro area.

Traveling nouth on 94 from the metro area would take you to St. Joseph - correct?

Exit 160 on I-94 is in St. Joseph... so yes

That’s what I thought. If he took 94 maybe he missed his exit towards St. Cloud (Hwy 10) and ended up in in the St. Joseph area.

Yes.

I forget people take 94 and not 10 the whole way.

Has it been snowing up there lately? Why was he going to St. Cloud? Was he going to the VA up there? I know a lot of people like to utilize the VA up there as opposed to the one in Mpls.
If he is a truck driver,IMO, missing exits wouldn't be common. And, if he is from up near that area, I would imagine that he has traveled there enough that he would be pretty familiar with getting to St. Cloud. Although, if he is having cognitive issues this idea would go right out the window. It is strange that they even bring up the fact he stated the was in the hospital in TN, unless they think that whatever he had been there for could be a factor in his disappearance.

Not much snow lately but the arctic weather hit overnight. Today's high is -1° and the highest temp we will see for the next week is 13 above. St. Cloud's forecast is a couple degrees colder.

Richards FB: https://www.facebook.com/richard.ridens.5

His niece posted a RIP message on 12/23. I have not seen any other information posted anywhere that he is no longer with us.

ETA: I did some more poking around and other family members have posted additional information that he has been located and is no longer with us.I will ask an MSM outlet to do a follow up so we can get this updated.

ETAA: Montevideo Police confirm he has been located: https://www.facebook.com/montevideo.police/posts/717839975088480
