ROCHESTER — The Rochester Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing 43-year-old Rochester man who was last seen Dec. 27, 2022, leaving Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys.

Thomas McElroy is described as 5 foot 8 inches, 130 pounds, fair skin, with curly short black hair, a beard and a mustache. He has a tattoo on his left hand.

He was last seen on 11th Avenue near Saint Marys around 4:30 a.m. after leaving the hospital against medical advice. He was not dressed for the winter weather.

They just found a body in the nearby park that she feared was him, but it is not Thomas, it was a 20 year old.

"Now that the snow is melting, we again are asking property owners in the area to check for signs of McElroy in their yards, garages, sheds and under decks," Crime Prevention & Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson wrote in a statement.

Based on the address on the police blotter from the day he was found, he was found on private property. There is a park in the neighborhood (Kutzky Park), but the neighborhood is also called Kutzky Park. It seems that has confused some news sources. I haven't seen any reports of exactly where on the property he was found.

I live a few blocks away and I talked to his mother last week as she was handing out flyers asking people to check their property again since the snow had melted. I wonder if that prompted the homeowner to look.
