Vincent had an argument with his wife one evening and left in his truck. His truck was later located but no one has heard from him since.

The Find A Grave link makes me think he was legally declared dead in 2005. There's so little information available, seems like it may be a suicide.

I have to agree. Someone indicating they were a family member posted on another thread. They had said the disappearance was suspicious. I suggested they become a verified insider so more info could be shared.

See...I was thinking found, buried and unsolved?
ETA but since he is in Namus I guess he hasn't been found for a proper burial. : (

Gearhart Funeral Home Obituary
Omlie, Vincent E. In loving memory of Vincent E. Omlie of Circle Pines, formerly of Fridley, MN, missing since March 2001. Memorial service 3:00 PM Friday, Oct. 21 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 6180 NE Hwy. 65, Fridley. Visitation one hour prior to service at church. Missed by many relatives and friends. Memorials preferred. GEARHART 763-755-6300This obituary was originally published in the Star Tribune.

I'm a little confused at the wording. Why would you pay for a full funeral and a burial plot if there are no remains? I can understand holding a memorial service, but a funeral, with visitation and a burial spot? That seems illogical to me. I've never heard of doing that when a missing person has been declared deceased. The family just usually has a memorial service.

Hello, looking at this link. I'm the family member that worked for him. For the court case details, what am I looking at?

Those of us in the know DO NOT think this was a suicide! His daughter, ex and widow? had him declared deceased prior to the typical waiting period. He was a diabetic, and his widow said he was looking pale (low blood sugar) when he left. If this is the case, he COULD NOT HAVE WALKED 10 FEET, much less drive a vehicle! Stress made his blood sugar go very low, and he would be hanging on to the support pillar at work just to keep from falling down. I had to talk him into some M&M's just to get his blood sugar back up.

I'm not sure what you're asking?
Welcome to Websleuths, although I'm very sorry for the reason that you are here.
Thank you for the insight into Vincent's health!

Although not the 7 year period, this is not especially unusual (I have come across one year). It is often the case that a declaration of death is expedited where there are strong reasons for such a presumption and particular reasons for needing the declaration - such as to settle an estate or get life insurance to pay out. Having said that I do not know whether such reasons existed in this case, but if they do then a lawyer would most certainly encourage an early application. The diabetes would support such an application since it makes it less likely that he could have survived either without medication or without being traceable due to the need for medical attention. I do not intend any of this comment to suggest a view on what happened to him.

Thanks all. It all gets me a little emotional. I had an errand in his old neighborhood yesterday, which conjures up a lot of nightmares and very little sleep.

Really appreciate all of the info you folks have shared. And yes, without medication, he would not have lasted long at all.

My wife, sister in law and I need to sit down with the investigators and see what they have examined and what they didn't. His widow's family had property in another state, which could have been another place where his body could have wound up.

Make no mistake, we absolutely think he was murdered. His wife came home from the bar that night to take out the trash. If you knew her after a few cocktails, it would be obvious that was out of character. Perhaps I've watched too many episodes of Criminal Minds, but that makes me wonder if they put him in the trash.

I also believe the truck was just dumped where it was to throw off a search party. The dogs didn't track his scent off of his own truck, and with the snow, there would have been some tracks had he actually been there.

I am glad to see someone besides me "wonders" who killed Vince. Does anyone know if this case has gone cold? Who has jurisdiction as his body has not been found?

Did you work with him at Transportation Components?

As it states in the obituary, it was a memorial service and we have a box on a memorial wall so if any part of him is found, it will remain there. If he isn’t, it’s a place to go to let him know we love and miss him. You can call it “illogical” , it is not to his loved ones. It’s not often you have to deal with something this horrible, I don’t think there is a manual on how to do it the way everyone thinks you should!!!

Hello Jenomlie
I seriously meant no disrespect. I sincerely apologize if that's the way it was taken. You are right, there is no manual and everyone does react differently. I was under the impression that his former spouse had set up the ceremony and like many others here, I find the circumstances of his disappearance and her, very suspicious.
You again, have my deepest apologies if I have offended you and my heartfelt sadness for what you and your family are going through.
