MN -- woman shot in face and killed by ICE, Minneapolis, 7 Jan 2026

I don't know if this has already been shared, but here's a fairly thorough breakdown of what happened yesterday. It's from the CBC. Aren't we Canadians fortunate to have such good handling of the news? It helps us be critical thinkers.
Thank you for posting this video. I think the single most important bit of info, from the DHS/ICE manual: "Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect." Nevermind that this woman was not an undocumented immigrant, and was thus not a suspect. It is not okay, according to DHS/ICE, to kill someone who is fleeing. Period.

Well let me think this through..in your scenario...if he had not had a gun in his hand ..best odds are he would have just stepped away from the vehicle and there would not have been an incident. She was not going more than 2 miles an hour.
It was his emboldened ego pulling the trigger .
The driver was being told to leave by one agent, another agent grabbing her door handle etc - ICE created their own chaos and what was she doing wrong driving down the street?

How do we explain him walking away signalling" lets get out of here" with out calling for aid and staying on the scene as federal agents are required to do?

How do we explain ICE not allowing a doctor tend her as they watched her bleed out ?

JMO
Nailed it.

Can someone please post a link about why ice is being placed in charge of any protests against them? I've seen it discussed but genuinely would like to know and understand. In my opinion, the murder in Minnesota was not part of an actual Federal operation but a result of alleged protests of the operations. In my opinion the agent acted completely irrationally and was out of line. But I genuinely don't understand how these ice raids are conducted without the support of local law enforcement. I understand the big picture. But logistically it really doesn't make sense. Jmho

Today, there were protests in MN that were blocking egress to the federal Whipple Building, home to the Fort Snelling Immigration Court. So the ICE agents were out. Tear gas briefly used as protesters, federal agents face off in Minneapolis - Bring Me The News

In both Minneapolis and St. Paul, rules state clearly that police departments may not assist in enforcing federal immigration laws. Police pitted between demands of protesters and feds - MinnPost

My opinionated interpretation of the apparent cover up by Fed investigators against state investigators...

The reasonable force excuse at minimum would require Shot 1 to be the fatal shot. (In a somewhat similar Chicago incident of fed shooting innocent woman, the feds repaired one of the vehicles before any non-feds could inspect it, no kidding.) So they sure don't want Minnesota investigators to be able to prove what seems obvious from the video and windshield photo: if the victim was shot in the head it could not have been Shot 1.

(Reference: please use your browser search re shooter Charles Exum and victim Marimar Martinez)
zleuther wins again! Just now on live TV, a Minnesota official (investigator spokeswoman named Moriarity?) confirmed zleuther's suspicion that the feds are keeping the victim car to prevent non-feds from inspecting it (for bullet trajectories blood splatter car computer sensor data dashcam???!!! etc)

Mary Moriarty. She is straightforward and clear on what is being withheld and not the norm. It's done. I'm glad this presser was done. Asking for all and any videos that, emphasized, show the truth.

Who was Renee Good?

It's quite a strong reaction to want to move to Canada after the last federal election!

"Renee Good studied creative writing at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and in 2020 she won an undergraduate prize from the Academy of American Poets for her piece entitled On Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs.

"When she is not writing, reading, or talking about writing, she has movie marathons and makes messy art with her daughter and two sons," her biography from the prize reads. Good graduated the same year from the university's College of Arts and Letters with a degree in English."

"In 2023, Timmy Macklin died at the age of 36, and Good became primarily a stay-at-home mom, her first husband said.

After she met and married Rebecca Good, 40, the couple settled in Kansas City, Missouri, and crafted a quiet life.

As a gay couple living in a red state, they weren’t overtly political, at least among the residents of their quiet street in the Waldo neighborhood, their neighbor Jennifer Ferguson recalled Thursday. But after Donald Trump was reelected in 2024, the two broke their lease and told Ferguson they were moving to Canada because of the political situation.

“[Becca] said, ‘We’re getting out,’” Ferguson said. “‘We can go to Canada until we figure out what we are going to do.’”

Yeah, my first thought was that they were keeping it in a crusher, then safely under concrete.

The question is sequence of events, and whether the officer believed that he would be struck by the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The street was covered with black ice. The civilian vehicle's front wheels can be seen briefly spinning on the ice.

I produced this illustration. Please let me know whether I need to make corrections.

Huh. From the administration that claims to be the most transparent ever.

They also said ICE would only go after the worst-of-the-worst criminals but they are showing up at schools and places of work grabbing parents and employees earning a living.

And certainly aren't making cities safer if they are killing civilians in the process.

It's possible that at the moment that Renee backed up, the officer believed that she was moving her car out of the way so she could safely exit the vehicle. At that time, the officer walked around the front of the vehicle to approach the driver's side door.

The vehicle was backing up, so it was safer to walk around the front of the vehicle than the back.

When the officer was in front of the vehicle, Renee put the vehicle in drive and the front wheels briefly spin as she accelerates. The officer is in front of the vehicle, and shoots into the windshield from the front driver's side bumper as the car moves forward. He quickly moves out of the way, and shoots two more times as she passes him.

The last two shots were unnecessary, and may have been reflex, fear and training.

The first shot is the big question.

Why didn't she just park the car and get out as requested?

~ in my humble opinion ~

If that video can't convince someone that the officer was not bumped or hit, then I give up. At 4:05, the moment the first shot rings out, there is nobody in the path of the vehicle.

If the officer believed he would be struck, how would shooting the driver prevent that?

It wouldn't.

Just the opposite, it eliminates any possibility of the car stopping.

If he truly believed that, that doesn't make the shooting acceptable, it makes it incredibly stupid. By shooting the driver, he increased the danger to everyone potentially in the path of the vehicle.

The goalposts always move with this administration, coupled with straight up lies. First they are only deporting criminals and gang members, then it was anyone here illegally even if they had zero criminal record and were hardworking people supporting families and contributing to the economy. Then that moved to anyone with brown skin who could *possibly* not be a citizen. Students, children, elderly - anyone who is brown are being violently grabbed off the street. Now they are shooting white blonde women in broad daylight and telling us she deserved it and they have absolutely immunity to do this. It won’t stop here either. Absolute insanity that there are people who still say they proudly voted for this because I don’t even recognize this country anymore and I’m scared for my kids future. All MOO.

There were a lot of witnesses. Why haven't any come forward to say they saw him hit?
