DHS says woman shot in the face in ICE-involved incident

WATCH: Minnesota officials hold briefing after ICE agent kills woman motorist

Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan also released a statement, calling the shooting an "unspeakable act of violence."

“ICE has committed an unspeakable act of violence today, shooting and killing a woman in South Minneapolis," she said.

"These masked agents are out of control and creating real chaos in our state. ICE must leave Minnesota immediately – before more people are hurt. In the face of their violence, let us remain peaceful, calm, and united. Minnesotans will not allow Trump and his thugs to turn our communities into war zones.”
ICE agent shoots and kills woman in Minneapolis

Hopefully, they'll identify the agent, arrest and charge him, and get him off the streets.

“Traditionally, ICE recruits deploy after a four-month training course covering immigration and constitutional law, firearms and driving. But these protocols are changing amid a historic deportation surge and scramble to hire officers.

Controversy over the new recruitment approach flared after NBC News reported that some ICE recruits reached the training academy before fingerprinting, drug tests or background checks were completed.

Authorities have also cut academy time for recruits without prior law enforcement experience, from 16 to eight weeks.”
Wow, where I live it's three years police training and we have little crime.

not nearly enough training IMO to be granted the power of life or death over US citizens and undocumented immigrants alike. :(

Are we allowed to post video if it is from an approved source? Although you don’t see the shooting, it is still a shooting so I don’t want to violate TOS.
As long as nothing violent shows in the thumbnail, Id say post it with a trigger warning, people can make their own decision about whether or not to view it.

“A witness to the incident, Emily Heller, told local media that the victim was shot in the face multiple times. Heller said she saw a car blocking traffic that appeared to be part of a protest against the ICE operation, and heard an agent telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here”.

“She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in – like his midriff was on her bumper – and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times,” Heller told MPR News, a Minneapolis public radio station.”

So as per eyewitness (as well as what I saw in the video) she was told to leave, started leaving, and was killed.

Here is a screenshot from the video I posted. He is at a 90 degree angle to the car. Continues to shoot.
Just watched the video. It's VERY clear to see the vehicle's wheels were totally turned away from the ICE officer who fired the shots. In no way was the driver trying to hit anyone with her car. That other person (a civilian?) on the passenger side of the vehicle could have easily been a second fatality from those gunshots too. What a wildly reckless and ultimately murderous act by ICE. He absolutely could have struck that individual. In the case of Carlitos Ricardo Parias I posted upthread, a US Marshal was struck by an ICE bullet. Clearly the training ICE agents are receiving is not sufficient.

DHS claims self defense, but there is video of the incident that doesn't seem back that up, IMO. I didn't post the video because it's violent, but it is linked in the article if you want to see it.
I have not seen the video. I can, however, think of two cases with radically different outcomes regarding the police officer who fired the shots.

Both of these cases involved incidents where the officer was endangered. But.... there was dispute on whether the officer was truly endangered and if he and the driver were engaging in a "one upping" contest that the police officer should have avoided.

Incident One: California Highway Patrol officer legitimately stops a woman for minor traffic violations. Woman refuses to cooperate. Situation de-volves into officer standing in front of her car while woman repeatedly drives towards him- but does not appear to be truly trying to run him over. Officer refuses to step aside and let her leave. After woman drives at him again, he fires close to an entire magazine into the windshield, killing her.

Incident Two: Ohio Officers respond to a call after a woman was spotted a store w/o paying for bottles of liquor. Officers surround the car. One positions himself directly in front. Same story follows. Woman refuses to cooperate and drives towards officer perhaps twice- but does not truly appear to be trying to run him over. Officer refuses to step aside. Then, shoots and kills woman when she moved towards him again.

In incident One, the officer was prosecuted and served a token sentence. The prosecutor emphasized that the offense was minor and that the officer should not have been, well, engaging in a double dawg dare contest with the woman. Rather, he should have let her go.

In lncident Two, however, the Grand jury refused to indict. The Grand jury appeared to feel that the officer was not obligated to let her go and had a legitimate interest in not allowing the woman to escape. Rather, she then repeatedly made decisions that put her life in danger.

Oh it NEVER mattered at all. That was never the point, we know what the point is, of having them and where they are sent. IMO

You should watch the video.

Not to mention shooting a driver who is actively operating a motor vehicle puts the lives of every single person there at risk as well because the driver will lose control of the vehicle.

This officer needs to be arrested.

MOO.

Here’s a screenshot from the BNO news video I posted upthread. As Sunshineray pointed out, the wheels of the vehicle are not facing any ICE agents.

The video clearly shows her executing a k-turn and trying to leave, as they instructed her. She never drove at them, so why was she shot?

MOO
Isn't it crazy? A woman is dead because of trigger happy ICE. It's going to get worse too because of the false statements made by WH and Noem.
