MN -- woman shot in face and killed by ICE, Minneapolis, 7 Jan 2026

Because on line of legal thought is that Federal Agents are immune from local prosecution for criminal acts they perform in the line of duty.

I believe it is being argued in Court right now regarding a Federal Agent who ran somebody over while either
A. Attempting to back up other officers who called for assistance -or-
B. Accelerated down a street recklessly fast when the situation did not warrant such a response.

No one is totally immune. No one. Even law enforcement can (and are) held accountable when they kill someone. Federal agents are no different. Yes, there is some level of immunity because accidents do happen, but this was not an accident. This was purposeful.

MOO.

Briefly, my opinion is the shooter overprioritized keeping his face hidden. He and a stranger were videoing each other right before (he snapped).

I feel so badly for Renee and her family, but especially for her child who will not be with his mother again this side of heaven.
How awful to be given conflicting “orders,” in such a highly charged situation. How was Renee supposed to be thinking with a clear head?
By now, I’ve seen a couple of the videos and I’m wondering why the ICE officer didn’t shoot one of the tires on Renee’s vehicle if he wanted her to stop? Instead he goes for a kill shot?

The issue is not whether or not federal agents cannot be held accountable. Rather, it is under which jurisdiction they fall.

The way he shot Good, I can’t but shed off the feeling that he enjoyed shooting. There is nothing that could explain him doing it. I think he couldn’t resist the urge.
In the video I just saw, he shot through the front windshield because she was driving directly at him.

And you're saying it would be under federal jurisdiction? Do you have a source for that?

Did you watch the entire video? Her tires were completely turned to the right, as she was attempting to go around the ICE vehicle parked in the road. He was standing to her left on the drivers side. Honestly, I’m really not sure she even saw the officer that shot her as the other officer was actively pulling on her door handle and shouting at her. Then after he takes the first shot, he walks towards her and continues firing another 3 shots at point blank range into her open window.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is working in conjunction with the FBI to investigate the shooting, according to Commissioner Bob Jacobson.

Exactly! I bet they get no psychological testing during their "training" and I bet there's more than a handful of those agents who have bad intentions and are just looking for a power trip and a reason to push people around without getting in legal trouble. Oh and also get the chance to shoot a woman in the face and have the actual president defend your murderous act!

MOO

Since I read this in February last year, I have wondered who exactly is being recruited by ICE.

According to the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE), the Proud Boys are already positioning themselves as potential enforcers for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Tracking their activity on Telegram, GPAHE has reported that Proud Boys PDX fantasizes about being “deputized as ICE under Trump’s second term” to aid in mass deportations.

Noem: "They got stuck in the snow because of the adverse weather that is in Minneapolis. They were attempting to push out their vehicle and a woman attacked them and those surrounding them and attempted to run them over and ram them with her vehicle."

There is no way anyone could claim this is true. No way. Would love for someone to walk me through this.
There's no way to walk you through that scenario because it never happened...according to the videos.

On FB, there are several videos. This is not what I saw.

They created a mess. There were two staying on both sides of the car and giving her different instructions. It looked disorganized, senseless and scary.

The shooter has already been declared innocent by the US President. He has nothing to worry about.

"Trump also responded to the Minneapolis incident on social media. He claimed the woman deliberately drove into the officer. "It appears he acted in self-defense," the president said."

An unmarked grey truck pulls up and two men, aiming guns at the driver in the SUV, grab at the door handle and shout "GET OUT OF THE F+ING CAR".

The driver backs up, turns the wheels to avoid the gangsters, pulls forward ... no one is in front of the vehicle.

First shot - yellow arrow indicates shooter. Vehicle wheels turned to the right at the time of the first shot.

Two more shots into the driver's side window.

~ in my humble opinio

I’d like to give both sides the benefit of the doubt when something first happens. I saw the breaking news. I went immediately and watched every video I could find from all different angles.

Time will tell, but I do not see those agents in danger nor do I see an agent hit by a car. JMO
Is there video from the front of the car? Could it be possible an agent was in front?

I just hate that being incredibly aggressive, hostile and antagonistic is encouraged for them. Unhappy with protesters? Find a way around her. Turn around. Go a different way. They obviously terrified her, running up to her 5 to 1 with their weapons drawn and screaming. She was attempting to leave as they asked, not intentionally trying to run anyone over.
I can agree with this.

ICE and Minneapolis PD (Mayor wants ICE gone, but seemed to tolerate a shooting of an unarmed woman by Minneapolis PD rather well) need intensive training on de-escalation.

The agents simply did not need to confront the woman in such a manner to perform their duties. Rather, as you said they could have simply gone around her, went another way etc. As protesters are likely at ICE enforcement activities, why not have a special team whose mission is to handle protesters, while the main group continues with their duties?

I also agree that she did not intend to harm anyone.

Though the footage I saw showed her directly driving at an officer who then shot through the windshield, I seriously doubt she intended to hit him. Rather, she very likely would have continued her turn.

At 0:13 she drives not him and at :14 he shoots while he's still in front of the car. I'm watching the linked video.
There's one bullet hole in windshield.

What on earth would justify the second (and third???) shot(s) through the open passenger window?

The lack of coordination among a team of agents seems unsafe for themselves and others (as turned out to be the case).

Yet, Noem stated:

Our officer followed his training, did exactly what he's been taught to do in that situation, and took actions to defend himself and defend his fellow law enforcement officers.

Seems to me the shooter brain-cramped that by standing where he chose, it might lessen her odds of escape. Victim likely didn't see him cuz of all the action on her door handle.

I think both front windows were rolled down, reasonable to assume there's a connection between that and how others were blowing whistles.

Here is the video that I am referring to. It shows both the agent in front of the car who fired one shot. It also shows the front windshield with a bullet hole in it.
