Exactly! I bet they get no psychological testing during their "training" and I bet there's more than a handful of those agents who have bad intentions and are just looking for a power trip and a reason to push people around without getting in legal trouble. Oh and also get the chance to shoot a woman in the face and have the actual president defend your murderous act!

MOO
“The good news is that thanks to a bill President [Donald] Trump signed, we have an additional 12,000 ICE officers and agents on the ground across the country,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a Jan. 3 statement. “That’s a 120% increase in our workforce, and that’s in just about four months.”
(...)
"Requests for comment sent to DHS and ICE seeking clarity on training standards, reduced requirements and oversight concerns tied to the hiring surge were not answered before press time.
ICE has not publicly disclosed how many of the roughly 12,000 new hires are assigned to enforcement versus investigative roles, or how training requirements were modified to accelerate onboarding. They've also not stated what safeguards are in place to ensure new personnel meet professional standards as they deploy nationwide."

The lack of coordination among a team of agents seems unsafe for themselves and others (as turned out to be the case).

Yet, Noem stated:

Our officer followed his training, did exactly what he's been taught to do in that situation, and took actions to defend himself and defend his fellow law enforcement officers.

CNN just showed the shooting frame by frame, and dude was dangerously close to shooting one of his fellow agents, too. The one who was trying to open her door was right next to the victim.
Perhaps Ms. Noem should take a look at the training that these agents are getting, because it sure looked to me like he put at least one other person in direct danger by his own actions.
IMO.

How long would it take to do a decent background check on 12,000 people?

As long as it takes, one would hope.
But honestly, with all of the government resources, not that long. Recruiters do it every day.
IMO.

And train them correctly. I'm hearing 16 weeks of training was cut in half.

After watching this a few times, it feels like she panicked when the officer lunges for her door. She hits the gas but has the wheels turned.. The shooter may have thought initially that if he went to the front of the vehicle, she would stop. Well it is very likely she is not focused on the guy in front and maybe he did feel she was coming at him but the turn of the wheels would say otherwise.

Standing in front of a vehicle like that is asking for trouble and maybe trouble is what this guy was looking for. 4 shots to the head for blocking a street. It feels surreal... history will not look back fondly at this, people will look back and wonder how it happened, much like we look back at Hitler and wonder how that happened.

I have very little faith that there will be an investigation.
I think there will be a trial and a conviction.

I do worry that some 🤬🤬🤬 will just pardon the murderer

Here is the video that I am referring to. It shows both the agent in front of the car who fired one shot. It also shows the front windshield with a bullet hole in it.

In that video in slo-mo, the officer doesn’t appear to draw his weapon until that split second that she starts to move forward. imo

It wouldn't surprise me if there's a fair percentage of J6 rioters. proud boys ,oath keepers and neo nazis amongst them.
The powers that be are probably happy to skip the background checks

imo

Do you have a link for that, stating that's exactly who they are?

Just two days ago, the White House issued an update on Operation Metro Surge, saying: "The streets of Minneapolis are safer today thanks to the hard work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and their federal partners."

Doesn't feel safe to the locals, apparently.

“Out of an abundance of caution, there will be no school on Thursday, Jan. 8 and Friday, Jan. 9 due to safety concerns related to today’s incidents around the city,” the district said in a statement on its website.

Is there video of what transpired immediately before this? Does anyone know if the white (?) SUV in front of her car is an ICE vehicle or was this a vehicle of a person apprehended by ICE? I ask because all I've seen is the videos of the actual shooting and no context really given for the other SUV there with it's door open.

Didn't that poster say "JMO"? It's just their opinion. They may or may not be correct but no link should be expected.

Just watched someone on CNN say that the shooter was recording protesters and the actual car in question just prior to the incident. They think that, in the absence of a body cam, his phone will tell part of the story.
I'm wondering if there was a dashcam in either the agents vehicles or in Renee's? Especially Renee's.
IMO.

hmm interesting. Thanks for that.

I don't see anywhere there that states you would be ineligible for the job if you have a criminal history. It just states that your required to reveal that information.

Whose to say they don't just ignore it then if it doesn't suit their agenda?
Also it states that you may be allowed to enter on duty while a full check being done.

From your link:
"Once these forms are received, ICE will obtain and review your criminal history report, credit report, and other forms submitted to make a risk-based preliminary suitability determination. This preliminary suitability determination may allow you to enter on duty while a full background investigation is being conducted".

IMO

There's a slowed down video on social media that confirms that. He was walking in front of the vehicle as she was reversing and IMO, probably wasn't expecting her to put in drive and try to drive away with him in front of her vehicle.

And I'm trying to figure out where she was getting conflicting instructions from. Seems pretty clear from the videos, she was being told to get out the car rather than being told to leave

WHO do people think these 'thousands' of ICE people ARE??? These instapolice? Armed and protected all over themselves roaming the streets and cities? WHO are their 'direct supervisors'? Do not ever think this group is formed as your State Police or local police are, regular military member... NO, they are not, they were and are being advertised and signed up based on what? (Not that our state police, as we have seen nor local police, can be stable and decent and law abiding themselves at ALL in instances). IMO
Don't know if this has already been stated but the new ICE agents got 47 days of training, the amount of days to symbolically reflect the current president. As a contrast prior trainees trained for five MONTHS.
