MN -- woman shot in face and killed by ICE, Minneapolis, 7 Jan 2026

Observing and videoing is not obstructing ICE.

Sure, ICE don't like it because it gives the world a window into what they are doing, it tries to make them accountable, it shows the world that not all Americans support the ICE actions.

imo
Thank God her partner and others were there recording as I fear if those videos were not available this whole tragedy would've been covered up by those investigating it (read: Trump's FBI guy).

"The Minneapolis Police Department has canceled all leave for its officers due to concerns over another tragedy taking place following the ICE fatal shooting of a resident yesterday, Police Chief Brian O’Hara said tonight.

O’Hara said he has been adjusting policies and practices in the department due to the situation and has now canceled “all days off for all of our police officers, recalled everyone to duty.”

Officers have been attempting to field and triage all 911 calls related to federal immigration activity ..... The chief said that federal agents are also unfamiliar with the conditions of Minneapolis neighborhoods and are “not as prepared as city officers” for the situations they deal with every day."

And yet, no call for retraction of unnecessary ICE agents by Trump or Noem. ICE is causing the chaos and violence in every city they've invaded. There was another shooting in Portland, Oregon today. Border Patrol agents shot 2 people in East Portland during 'targeted traffic stop,' DHS says

Thank you, this is helpful. The witness claims to have heard an ICE officer say, “Get out of the car,” and further claims that ICE ordered her to leave. The article does not quote or otherwise detail the wording of the order to leave. The witness states that the instructions were given “at the same time".
From a different witness...

Heller said she heard ICE agents telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here.”

I agree.

Even CNN is showing the video depicting him not only in front of the car, but being hit (though not knocked off his feet) by the car.
Please can you tell me why you think an ICE officer who has previously been dragged by a car would stand in front of a car in a tense situation? Does he bare any responsibility for his own safety or the public's?

When he shot her in the face, the car careered out of control, understandably, it then sped up crashing into a parked car.
If there had have been people or children in that car that were injured or killed do you think the ICE officer is responsible in any way?

Moo... In the previous incident when he was dragged. He broke rear driver's side window, then tazed the guy. The guy is in control of a running vehicle. So he has shot tazer and then a gun at people in moving vehicles
He needs to learn another tactic. ....moo

Do you think that still justified the shooter firing a second and third shot through the open passenger door window AFTER he was well clear of the vehicle and the the perceived threat was gone?

To me, that's the equivalent of shooting someone in the back after they are in the process of running away and that's not self-defense, that's murder.

Some sources are saying the officer was hit by the SUV and others are saying he wasn’t.
The only sources saying the officer was hit are from the administration.

I have not heard of a single civilian witness say that.

This is what I said in an earlier post:

IMO I don’t think she intentionally ran into him or wanted to run him over. The event was chaotic and it happened very quickly. From what I’ve seen so far I don’t think the shooting was justified. However, I don’t know all the details. I think it was a very unfortunate situation that should have been handled by both parties differently.
Thank you for your answer. What do you think Renee could have done differently and likewise the ICE agent?

Only ICE should've handled this differently not Good. Or better yet they should've stayed out of Minneapolis.

Immigration enforcement officers have every right to be in Minneapolis. They are charged with removing illegal immigrants from the country and have every right to be there.

There is a difference between legally observing and protesting. I don't know which this woman was doing. It is possible she was protesting IF she intentionally put her car in that position in the street. Upthread there is a video from CNN saying she was parked like that for approximately 3 minutes.

Protesters don't deserve to be shot, neither do legal observers but I just wonder why anyone would intentionally put themselves in such a volatile situation.

If she did indeed attempt to intentionally block the road. Protests and observations can be done from a safe distance where there is not even the appearance of impeding or obstructing law enforcement activity.

The environment especially in the city is charged so I guess it just doesn't compute with me why anyone would intentionally try to block the road or actively obstruct law enforcement. Why put yourself in the middle of that?

I am not saying nobody should protest or that I support what this administration is doing. But this woman was a human and a mother and is dead now.

So in regards to the amount of training that ICE agents receive (47 days 😐) the fact that this article says they’ve recently hired 12,000 new agents, it makes me extremely doubtful that this quick hiring process is providing adequate vetting and training of any of these officers. And JD Vance saying that ICE will soon go “door to door” in coming months…has he not heard of the 4th amendment? We have now moved into the knocking on doors and demanding people’s papers phase. This will not end well, for both the American people and the officers who will be conducting these raids. MOO.

Immigration enforcement ramp-up has only just begun, VP Vance promises

are we all going to need to carry a national ID card at all times?

The videos show cars driving past her; she was not blocking the road.

ETA. Even if she was, that in no way justifies the shooting.

"ICE’s Civil Immigration Enforcement Authority

ICE’s primary mission is enforcing U.S. immigration law, which is civil—not criminal. Federal law gives ICE administrative detention powers to detain individuals without lawful immigration status or those in removal proceedings.

ICE can temporarily detain someone if there’s reasonable suspicion the person is in the U.S. unlawfully. However, if there’s any indication the individual is a U.S. citizen, ICE is required to investigate immediately. ICE does not have legal authority to civilly detain U.S. citizens."

NO LEGAL AUTHORITY.

I think he has to be fired. It is hopeless. He can't even learn from previous poor experience, that's the problem. But, let it be Noem's problem.

Sadly, he may not be the only one. I wanted to read what would have been the best option in his situation: to stop a moving car without hurting a passenger, shooting from the front or a side window. (There is such a question, but for specific guns.) And I was shocked at how many people still said, blow the windows out, or shoot the passenger. They were probably joking, I hope, as they laughed at "aerodynamics", and then some said, it won't stop a Tesla, but people have to understand that shooting or otherwise incapacitating a passenger is not going to instantly stop a moving car. Moreover, it is going to create a horrible hazard on the road, as I witnessed once when a man had a heart attack when driving. That car hit a truck in a nearby lane and created a horrible accident with fatalities.

You mean the attempted arrest by our border patrol agents of member (or members) of Tren de Aragua, a foreign terrorist organization? Or are you referring to another situation?

It sounds like the Gestapo doesn't it? And people wondered how the folk of Germany could have sat by and let it happen.
This is how it happens and it's happening right now in the US imo

Considering the administration we have it's an 85% chance that's a lie.
