"[Friend] said what makes the deaths even harder to process is that Jozee and JT McLean had a very close relationship and Jozee even called him dad.

[...]

Boone County Sheriff Captain Brian Leer said several local law enforcement agencies were assisting in the case, along with federal agencies.

Leer didn't specify which agencies or how many out of concern of tipping McLean off."

The friend's account of the relationship in this article certainly differs from the accused murderer's ex wife's description of his violent behavior.

Investigators received information that suspect recently acquired a motorcycle that was not titled in his name. Wonder if someone is helping him.

Predictable. Cowardly.

From the link (bbm)--

The sheriff’s office in South Dakota said McLean was also wanted for murdering two other people in Miller County, Missouri. Deputies learned he stole a vehicle from one of the victims, and ON STAR located the car in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, where McLean had family.

As deputies deployed a non-lethal drone over the vehicle outside a motel, McLean was discovered dead.

"Sometime in between the Aug. 22 murders and McLean’s reported Sept. 8 suicide, the suspect allegedly killed two other people in Miller County, Missouri. The victims were identified as 74-year-old Daniel Stephan and 64-year-old Pamela Stephan. KOMU reported that Miller County deputies conducted a welfare check on Sept. 8 near the Lake of the Ozarks and found the Stephans dead. It is not clear if victims knew the suspect. Authorities have not specified how the victims were killed, when they were killed, nor how McLean was linked to the homicides. "

Am I reading this wrong? Is he accused of murdering 2 more people or is it the same mother and daughter. I apologize I get confused with the way things are worded in articles.

Two more.

I have a feeling the 2 other victims in Missouri are her relatives.

Wow. Scary that someone in the US in 2021 can have that many multiple known identities (so presumably some unknown) and travel on an unregistered motorcycle like that.

Pretty pathetic as a "bad boy" though, killing women and children and old people.

More details and a press conference by Boone County Sheriff’s office.
Miller County victims connected to homicide suspect by ex-wife - ABC17NEWS

From article linked below (bolded by me):

“In 2016, a divorce agreement with his ex-wife was amended to only allow supervised visits with their child. In a motion to modify the agreement, McLean's former wife claimed he threatened her and her boyfriend in front of the child, would not use a car seat or seat belt when the child was in the car, was not taking prescribed medications to treat bipolar disorder and severe depression and threatened his former in-laws.
In June 2020, Boone County Judge Brouck Jacobs issued a full order of protection for McLean's ex-wife after a temporary order was issued in May 2020. In the full order, McLean was banned from communicating with his former wife, including through their child.
However, McLean did not follow the limits of the order, documents show.
Last December, he was charged with violating the order of protection. Court documents say McLean messaged his ex-wife on Aug. 27, Oct. 7, and Oct. 14, 2020, threatening her to see their child.
McLean pleaded guilty to the violations this March and was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation.

This is only MOO, but the judge who gave this monster only 2 years unsupervised probation after he flagrantly and repeatedly violated the court’s conditions has blood on his or her hands. There was every indication that this loser had zero intention to reform, had no fear of/respect for the law, and honestly anyone with a modicum of common sense could have anticipated that come hell or high water, he would take revenge on his ex-wife in any way possible (including killing her parents). Again, just my opinion, but I can’t imagine how this judge lives with the knowledge that the slap-on-the-wrist punishment they meted out—at minimum—facilitated the deaths of these four innocent people.

I completely agree. In addition, I wonder if the murdered older couple (relatives of an ex wife) were offered any protection by LE while this monster was on the loose. If not, why not?

What an absolute garbage human being he was.

Unsupervised probation for someone who was full of rage, defiant and already demonstrated he wouldn't obey a court order is just saying - I'm not sure when you will attack or kill someone, but I'm sure it will happen some time.

Although these two sets of murders are intensely personal with individuals who he (imo) felt he lost control of and felt wronged by, I do wonder if he ever killed while on the road as a trucker. Hard to imagine with his history and the fact that he strangled and drowned his girlfriend and her 11 year old, respectively, that his anger had never broken through in a deadly way before.

As he was a former truck driver, I featured his wanted fliers since the time the BOLO was issued by Missouri State Police.
I am not surprised he took the coward's way out.
However, I despise suicide in every form especially for a murderer who didn't stick around to face his charges.
Imo he's going to answer to a higher authority now.
May his victims rest in peace.
Our truck drivers almost across the board are fine individuals.
JT McLean left a stain on our community, but he was a bad example of a generally wonderful industry.
My sincere condolences from The Truckers Missing Child Project.

Makes you wonder if the 11 year old may have accused him of something.
