Karnes is stating that the wheels are similar to the one's from Breeann's bike.

If the dad is 100% certain those are the training wheels, I believe him, why make up the story? But either someone who took Breeann put them where they were discovered, maybe at two different times, or the dad put those wheels there himself. But that just doesn't make sense, does it???? JMO

It does sound like the training wheels and the mystery piece of evidence is the only thing they have. I am hoping that is all they are telling us about but I have a feeling it ALL they have.

I am not sure exactly which bike it is, but my granddaughter has a pink and purle bike. It is pink with a purple chain guard and pedals. It has white training wheels. It is a Huffy Seastar. She loves princesses but if I remember right the princess ones were too large. Any pink bike seen in an odd area should be reported.

That's what I'm wondering too. You just really need to adjust the bolt on them to get the bike to ride properly don't you? There's like a sliding bar thingy there you just move up and down. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so my methods are usually take a hammer and whack something to get it to work. But training wheels are pretty much easy to manipulate in my opinion.

Reasons to remove training wheels off a bike taken with an abducted child:

1. the bike is too wide to dispose of with the training wheels sticking out, would make the bike stick out more and be noticed.
2. to spread out evidence
3. to lead LE on a trail in circles
4.????????? anything else???????

I am not a parent but I did work in a toy store that sold many bikes. I know what the dad is talking about when he was taking about having to adjust the wheels. Sometimes the training wheels are too low or too high and if there is not enough adjustment on the "arm" you bend it down to make it work properly. They are also known to come loose too if there is not a lock washer or if the end of the screw is stripped. Hope this makes sense...?

I still think the training wheels were removed to enable the perp to "fit" it into a confined space. Now, I drive a big ol' suburban but my daughter drives a little honda. She would have to take the wheels off to get it in her back seat or trunk. I think that the wheels made the bike awkward to hide in what space the perp had available.
But, as someone up thread mentioned maybe the perp kept the bike to give to his own daughter. Was this a random abduction by a passer-thru who was headed home to his own family? Very creepy thought indeed.

I hope that this childs face and a correct id of bike is plastered all over the media and nationwide attention is given now! The LE does need to clear up the description of this bike, pronto! I don't think it is too much ask. Can who ever interviews the father please get the correct id on the bike, where was it bought and when might be a start.

IMO the van may be misleading. It is my opinion that the training wheels were removed in order that the bike could fit easily in a trunk. Can't imagine another reason why they would have been removed and dumped.

This is similar to what my opinion has been. I think white vans are so common, that it's very possible people DID see one in the days beforee B disappeared, but I think it's unrelated. It has always made sense to me that if she was taken, then the bike was tossed quickly in the back of a truck, and later down the road, the wheels bounced out. Training wheels aren't the sturdiest things in the world, and with all four of my kids bikes, it seems they always need/needed readjusting and tightening. They we're always loosening or coming off after a while of use, so I can easily see them breaking off or loosening off after being tossed onto a truck bed.

And we've had various types of TW, both the kind that came WiTH the bike, and the kind that you purchase separately, some that were adjustable (with different slots for different "heights") and some that weren't. None of em were very strong, and I'd say a good whack would be enough to take them off.

They're a right PITA lol. Can wait for our youngest to be done with them!

I assume we still don't have any locals, but I was thinking about this last night. How many kid's bikes are there in the area? In one version we were led to believe the place was crawling with kids, which may mean there is lots of kids bikes. Would it be odd for a kid's bike to be laying out by the sidewalk for example?

Last night we walked 1 mile and saw 5 small (16" and smaller) kid's bikes that we had to walk around... on the sidewalk or in the street. 3 were pink and/or purple. None looked enough like this one to be mistaken for it. 2 of them were also there the last 3 nights we went for our walk.

I can understand withholding information... but I think it is preventing tips from being called in. If I lived there, I wouldn't call in the tip about these bikes in my area... because I wouldn't have a clue what they were looking for.

I would not call in several bikes and waste their time without something more specific. If I see it in a canal or the garbage, yes. But if you were smart you could just leave it on a sidewalk.

If they don't want to be specific, then they need to emphasize that the bike is still very important and if anyone sees one abandoned anywhere to please call. The lack of emphasis on the bike makes me think they know it isn't important... or isn't going to be found with Breeann...

Those are my thoughts exactly, MsFacetious! The bike shown on the NCMEC posted is unlike any bikes of 16" and smaller than I have seen. The Huffy Sea Star is a very common bike and is sold at Walmart and various similar stores, but most of the ones that I see are the blue and pink/fuscia one or pink and purple model. I have not seen the one on the poster ever in person.

If her bike is identical in color and style to the one on the poster, it would stand out to me much more than the other Huffy Sea Stars that I have seen. The colors for a girls bike are that unusual. JMOO!

I wish they would specify the similarities or dissimilarities, as that would really skew how important seeing any small girls bike would be to call in.

Perhaps taking off the training wheels with the promise to teach her how to ride without them was used as the lure to take her ? Then the perp panicked and realized he had to dispose of them ? MOO

If he lives very close by he would maybe have known that the field had been searched already.... Maybe can't rule out a local teenager(s)... MOO

Not everyone is a master mechanic and has all the tools
necessary to make adjustments.

Not much at all, IMO, especially with the younger kids because their balance isn't that great and the bike is constantly tipping from one training wheel to the other. If the father manipulated/bent the stem of the training wheel to get it to hit the ground better, then it would almost be on the ground constantly. It sounds like she rides her bike a lot, so I would think they would be visibily worn.
