If this is a true kidnapping, the bike may be in pieces by now and scattered throughout various places and/or trash cans along whatever route was taken...I don't think it is with Breeann at this point...JMO

As cold as this is going to sound... the fact of the matter is that these types of missing children cases don't usually end well. I just feel like she's too old for this to be a "kidnapping" where someone wants a child and can't find it any other way. And that she's too young to be a victim of a sexual predator. Unfortunately, that leads me to feel like the conclusion is not going to be one we want to hear.... JMO

Well, she isn't really too young for some sickos...but that would not have a good ending either. If she was taken by a predator it is very unlikely she would be alive almost a week later. If taken in revenge of some sort, quite possible she is alive, as long as they can figure out a way to benefit and give her back...

I think the bike might fit in a large truck box for a full size P/U with the TW still on. It would not, however, fit in the truck box my dad had on his lil' Toyota P/U without removing the training wheels. IMO

I think a bike that small would fit in the back of just about any truck without taking the TW off.

However if she was abducted by someone driving a small car then that would be a different matter.
Small trunk, small back seat room.

Not the truck bed itself, the truck-box. Work box. Tool box. Usually chrome diamond plate, sits behind rear window in the truck bed, and opens on either end. We usually see dogs sitting on them? LOL! HTH :)

Why was that specific area where the TW were found searched twice? Sorry if I'm missing the obvious....

In that case I would say no.

Does anyone - especially those of you in fields like psychology, social work, and the like - have any handy references for data that could help us understand the 5-y/o's mind? Examples - i have wondered about how reliably he could perceive and recall time, what lies a child might tell, concerns about or protocols for interviewing may be unique to children around this stage in development, etc. It has been six or seven years since I took developmental psyc, and I haven't kept up on this kind of research since I went into neuro.

As a psychologist, I can say that it varies from child to child. In my personal and professional experience, a child can tell a lie and stick to it - if it is coming from within the child. However, a child who is told to tell a lie and go along with a story usually can't do it for very long at that age. They may be able to keep repeating what they were told - but not be able to embellish any other details.

For example, if a child were told to lie in this case, and then were asked during questioning, "What were you and Breeann talking about while riding?" or "Did you ride side by side, or were you racing?", a 5-yr-old wouldn't have the reasoning ability to keep embellishing if they were told to repeat a certain story line -- riding bikes, went inside to get a drink, came out, and Breeann was gone. An older child may be able to continue and add to what they were told to say, but not a younger child.

I don't have research to back this up - it's just my own experience/observations. It's fairly easy to catch a young child in a lie, if questions are asked that are open-ended and address things that didn't happen.

Another observation: depending on how old the 5-yr-old is (just turned 5 or almost 6), then a 5-yr-old may not even get concerned if s/he goes back out and can't find their sibling. They may just keep riding and go play with something else, then when asked by an adult where so-and-so is later, just shrug and say they don't know. They don't (usually) have the ability to see the big picture/danger of a child being missing and will assume the other child is playing elsewhere, etc.

Hope this helps...

I wish NG would do the right thing and make her show about this missing little girl...but no, it is Casey who takes center stage...maybe she will devote a moment or two later to Breeann...

I can't believe this week ended with nothing of value, apparently, to get closer to what happened to this child.

I was hoping she would have covered her to. Well maybe she will later. Sad.

So many children reported missing and haven't been found. Its unbelievable.

I do believe she will be found and there will be justice.

I am glad you believe it...I am becoming such a cynic, I don't expect anyone to be found anymore, ever...

Yeah now see that 12 inch one looks more "pink and purple" to me. I saw that one on there and wondered if that's the actual bike. I wonder if LE even knows what the bike looks like? I wonder if the family even knows really

I don't know... this case is so confusing in regards to info that is out there. As if there is not enough confusing info regarding this case already.... I just found a video on Google that makes the bike/training wheel part of this case even crazier. The reporter states that "police say the training wheels they found look just like these" at about 35 seconds into the video. Now the training wheels on the bike in the photo and the one in the video do not look the same to me at all :banghead:

Yes. I agree that the 12" looks more pink, with purple trim. A few of the Wal-Mart girls' bikes have pink training wheels like those shown in the video, but all have a white tread, not black. Could colors vary? Maybe the pictures online are just a sampling of what's available in those models?

IDK, but in my experience it often takes a lug wrench to get the training wheels off . Speculating that he spoke to her as she passed his house, possibly the garage door was open, and he took her into the garage. If so, this would be an opportunistic crime. And not a well thought out, planned scenario. Could well be that the perp will be caught...

I thought of that to early on. She was lured into a garage. But it seems like most of the house have car ports.
