Darn! Arraignment rescheduled.

A southeast Missouri man accused of killing a 3-year-old neighbor girl faces arraignment Aug. 30.

Shawn Morgan made a brief appearance in a Dunklin County courtroom on Tuesday. His arraignment was rescheduled to allow him time to find an attorney. He remains jailed without bond.

And Hopefully they will find Breeann by then and add a whole boat load more of Charges.

snipped

A crowd of family and media was there as police brought Morgan to the courthouse in a bullet-proof vest.

Family and friends held signs reading "Justice for Breeann."

Wow he's really short. Or, or course, everyone else may be really tall...

Breeann's parents were in the courtroom when Morgan appeared before a judge. They held each other and kept their eyes on Morgan.

Karnes said the Federal Bureau of Investigation has given polygraph tests to the parents, and he feels the parents are clear.

"I feel like they are [cleared]," Karnes said.

The way he is hiding his face and hunched over as he walks makes me very confident whatever happen to Breeanne was something he feels VERY shameful about, he looks like he wants to melt into the sidewalk.

I think he's scared someone will take a shot at his head!

I agree and there are probably people screaming jeers at him and he is trying to muffle the sound maybe. <mod snip> jmo

I thought the court would have appointed him an attorney at this point?

I'm not always sure they're ashamed. Sometimes I think they are just annoyed, don't want people looking at them, or the news crews filming them. Like maybe they're vain and their hair isn't freshly washed and they don't like it that people see that.

I'm just not always sure it's shame or remorse.

I *think* (not positive) the judge has to do it by order if it's a PD because it's an expenditure of county funds and the judge has to determine if they're indigent and qualify for it.

He may not qualify for a PD but be having trouble finding a local attorney. This is a case some may not want to defend considering it is a small town.

imo

The longer he is without a lawyer the better no? not sure.

If he's going private, they'll want a retainer in advance too, and his wife may not be willing to expend those funds. She's got kids to take care of on her own now.

What a mess for her to have to deal with. My heart goes out to her and her children. :(
