So...was she found, basically, where he said she would be? Close to where they found the bike?

Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, Senath Police Chief Omar Karnes, and Dunklin County Prosecuting Attoreny Stephen P. Sokoloff have confirmed that law enforcement officers working the investigation of the disappearance of 3-year-old BreeAnn Rodriguez have located what are believed to be the child's remains near the floodway ditches northeast of Hornersville, Mo., approximately eight miles southeast of her home in Senath, Mo.

According to the officials, her remains were located by an officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol, who was searching by boat.

Is this the ditch near highway 164 as SM stated

The affidavit continues, adding Morgan then stated he placed the child's body in the same trash bag, drove to the floodway ditches at Highway 164, and disposed of her by throwing her over the railing. Morgan added that upon returning to his residence, he dismantled the bicycle that Rodriguez had been riding, and disposed of it in the same river system

She was found near some floodway ditches. Is this different from being found IN a floodway ditch? Could he have thrown her on land instead of the waterway? Someone posted that Channel 9 said she was found in a 'brushy area'. Maybe he didn't see where the water was from his vehicle (dark out?) JMO

Or is this poor reporting?

I thought it was stated that a trooper spotted her via boat? So not too far on land if at all I'm thinking.

Ditch # 4 is near the St francis river,,, but there are 5 parallel ditches on hwy 164,,, LE probably just named them 1 2 3 4 and 5 for simplicity. Don

I am so confused.

Or is this poor reporting?

I edited my post to include the report of her being found in a brushy area so maybe he tossed her over and thought she went in the water but he missed. IDK. I'm relieved she's been found.

don't know if this is allowed but here is an example of what the area looks like

and note that this Spring that area was really flooded: 5/5: Drainage ditches are overflowing in Hornersville. Missouri Highway 164 South of Cotton Plant remains closed. The only access to Hornersville is from Highway 164 west of town. MoDOT continues to monitor the St. Francis River Bridge on Highway BB at the State Line west of Holcomb and said if water rises to the supports, it will close the roadway. http://sema.dps.mo.gov/newspubs/SRTemplate.asp?ID=N09110042

So: the TWs were found on Wednesday Aug 10th and Thursday, Aug 11th (I believe)

On Friday, Aug 12th, SM is arrested.

Could finding the training wheels have tipped off the police to SM somehow? What about the 3rd item of interest?

The arrest came so soon after the discovery of the training wheels that I think it has something to do with how they caught him. Tire tracks off his vehicle? IDK

I had mixed feelings about Breeann being found. I was hoping SM was lying about killing her, but knew it was likely she was no longer alive. I'd been catching up on my reading when I came upon the posts announcing that the body had been found.

I, too, am wondering if it was discovery of the TW's that led LE to SM. I can't find an article telling when the wife and children of SM returned home, but I believe they were only gone that weekend. SM said he first took Breeann's body to dump in the waterway and then dismantled her bike when he returned. We don't know that SM discarded the bike the same day. Maybe he kept it? Maybe he dumped it on the way to work or the following day? That may explain why the body had drifted so far from the bike if they were indeed dumped in the same location.

But, what if SM still had the bike parts, or just the TW's, stashed at the house, his wife found it when she and the kids returned, and she questioned it about it? If she knew at this point about Breeann's disappearance and her husband was being elusive about some bike parts in their home, that would certainly constitute "weird" behavior, IMO. So, maybe SM discarded the TW's Monday night after his wife found them and grilled him about them.

I thought someone here said there was only railing on 3 of the 5 ditches/waterways? They are possibly numbered 1,2,3,4,5...Reeann was found in ditch 4.

Saw the video, no railing but concrete curb? Lower than the railing in the first waterways. Just trying to figure out where I guess.

There are bear and panthers in the ditch area. Her little body could have been dragged out of the water. IF she was found out of the water.

From KFVS:

Police tell us they have found human remains believed to be those of Breeann Rodriguez.

The remains were found around 6:30p.m. this evening by a member of the Missouri Highway Patrol Water patrol searching by boat. The remains were near what police call the number four floodway ditches.

That's the body of water near Hornersville, where divers were searching for her just days ago. It's about eight miles from her Senath, Missouri home, It's also the same area where they found Breeann's bike.

BBM - okay, type in Cotton Plant, MO on google maps & check it out -- there are many ditches: I count 5 & Hwy 164 crosses over them. This corresponds to the YouTube video I posted earlier . . .

Thanx, Krimekat. So the body probably got caught up in some brush along the waterway. Some reports, too, sound as though the body was found in the same "ditch" as the bike. The body probably just wasn't as visible b/c it became entangled in the brush.
