Attorneys for both parties argued some of the details ahead of the murder trial for Shawn Morgan of Senath. Morgan is set to go to trial in August.

Another motions hearing is scheduled for February 27, 2014.

Morgan set to go to trial in August

I think it's pretty shameful that this will be three years after he killed her.

There will be no trial for Shawn Morgan. The Senath man, accused of murdering three year old BreeAnn Rodriguez, pled guilty to three counts. Morgan pled guilty Monday to first degree murder, armed criminal action, and child kidnapping. He will receive two life sentences with no parole, plus ten years on the armed criminal action count. The sentences will run concurrently.

"I'm pleased to have this resolved. I know the Rodriguez family is. That was a big factor in this," said Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff.
Sokoloff added that a news conference with the Rodriguez family in attendance will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Dunklin County Courthouse.

I cannot believe this wasted all this time.

And damnit I want to know WHY he did this. Was he yet another pervert and took her and sexually assaulted the poor baby? Or did he do it because he is a racist and he was mad she was on his pool ladder (supposedly)?? WHY. I think he should be made to tell before he's allowed to plead.

I am beyond disgusted with this hideous excuse for a human being. And SO sorry for Breanns family, but glad this is finally over for them.

Morgan pled guilty to the murder, will serve 2 life sentences, plus 10 years for armed criminal action.

Too bad he wasted so much time and resources, but it is over. No appeals. He will rot in prison, as it should be.
