SENATH, Mo. -- The observation of Crime Victims' Week in Dunklin County was held Friday, April 27 in the city park at Senath. In attendance to deliver remarks honoring the event was Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen P. Sokoloff.

Sokoloff told those who had assembled at the gathering, "We must remind ourselves about those who bear the human cost of crime," adding, "We must preserve the interests and dignity of the victims of crime so that they do not suffer further through the criminal justice system."

He continued by saying, "We must do all we can to make sure that as few people ever become victims of crime by looking out for one another, and by making our communities safe and secure for all."

Honored guests at the event were Edgar and Claudia Rodriguez, parents of Breeann Rodriguez, who was murdered in August of last year. The case against Shawn Morgan of Senath for that crime is pending in Dunklin County with a December trial scheduled.

THis was a heartbreaking and devastating case. Poor little thing. I hope she is running free in the clouds with our other precious babies, like Caylee, Ayla, Hayleigh and all of the others. :star::angel::rose::star:

I don't blame her parents for moving away.

This case was so weird. I've been awaiting the trial too, because, while these things never make sense, this one was even beyond the usual senselessness.

I received this MOVANS email this morning. If only Breeann had such rights. So change of venue or where jurors are selected from. Charge him with the DP & make him plea to a lessor charge of LWOP already! What year will he go to trial?
