Jacks Fork

I wanted to get a better idea of where her vehicle was found (National Scenic Riverways at Buck Hollow, on the Jacks Fork River). I came across the link above. As I thought, it is a beautiful place! However, it appears to offer several features that a person could easily get lost around or badly hurt, etc.

Overview of Jacks Fork natural area:
(which is in proximity of Buck Hallow)

Jacks Fork area includes a three mile area of the Jacks Fork River with a gravel wash, dolomite cliffs, and forests. Steep valley walls and cliffs loom up to 200 feet above the Jacks Fork here with cedars growing from cliff ledges.
The most amazing feature here is Jam Up Cave. The entrance of Jam Up Cave is visible from the river and forms an arch 80 feet high by 100 feet wide. Jam Up Creek flows into this natural tunnel through a narrow sinkhole.
The area is best reached by canoe. Buck Hollow River Access is one location you can put in to reach Jacks Fork Natural area.

Directions/Location shared on site: Buck Hollow River Access – From Mountain View travel 3.6 miles north on Highway 17 and right before crossing the Jacks Fork River, turn right (east) to the Buck Hollow River Access. From this access it is 4.5 river miles east (downstream) along the Jacks Fork to the natural area.

BBM

That does seem unusual, especially if she had small children at home. Could it be she left home because she didn't feel safe there?
I'm wondering if she doesn't have custody of them right now?

I snipped part of that ^^^ post - just wanted to say I watched the video and it sounded like he did say "was" as you bolded. May be just a speech habit and/or locality thing but I always notice that since being here on WS for so long.
Ok, I watched the video, spidey sense is BF's truthful.

I don't understand how she can be hurt to the degree they is blood on the ground and on her truck, then she's seen leaving the area on foot. Very strange story.

Who is the witness that gave that account, do we know?

Yes yes yes.

Mr. Laughing grew up in this area. I refer to the language pattern as speaking Ozarkstani. I met him at college, of course, where he had code-switched to Standard English. I was startled the first time I visited his family! Some linguists consider this a regional dialect & some use the term "Hickenish."

As an example, "you'uns" is a bigger group than "y'all," and a smaller group than "all y'all."

Notice that boyfriend Mr. Roberts also says "she had came down" about sleeping in the truck, usage not found in Standard English. And, IMHO, Mr. Roberts ain't from 'round here.

JMHO YMMV LRR
Thanks for the laugh :)

Last seen at a residence? Was that before or after she supposedly drove her car somewhere?

I took it as before she drove her car somewhere...that was until you asked! :D
I just assumed it was before, but now you got me thinking!

The facts are clear as mud in this case. I'm beginning to suspect self harm. Hope I'm way off base and Brittany is found safe.

I suspect self harm too. Her FB had some foreshadowing.

Yes, her FB posts did seem to depressive at times. MOO. I also find it hard to believe as did someone else that anyone would see a person covered in blood walking along a road and not at least call 911, or if no cell coverage go see help. If this was in fact untrue, what a crappy rumor to spread, especially to her mom. I hope she is found soon.

I live in the nearest town to Buck Hollow (locally known as "River Hill"), and graduated with Dylan, the father of one (at least) of her 3 kids. I checked out the link on Buck Hollow, and the reality of the location is not nearly as dangerous as it is inferred through the link. The Buck Hollow access point, where her truck was found, is just barely off the highway, and completely visible. That's not to say it's impossible to encounter danger there. However, it is far more likely for a local to be injured by jumping off of the bridge into the river than someone being lost or accidentally injured. This does not account for head injury, etc., in which case getting lost would be more realistic. The word here is her family is trying to get permission to have the porta potties drained in order to cross that off the list. Also, we had torrential rain last wee

I’m so sorry, I haven’t figured out quoting yet. I think it’s interesting he (GR) doesn’t specify when she had stayed in her truck, and repeats that it was “One time”. MOO

“She had told me that she had came down here to sleep one time. That's the only time that I know of, Roberts added. An officer checked on her one night, but she wouldn't have any reason to be staying here Wednesday.”

I think that’s referring to blood found in and around the truck, it says in the article
“Investigators say they found evidence that Gorman might be injured.” IMO

Thank you, I love it when locals post! Very useful information.

I gave him a pass on that, but you think otherwise? Do you have any personal knowledge of him or the relationship? Also, did Brittany have custody of her children?

"They found Brittany's truck down here. Blood around it and on her truck. She was nowhere to be found." -Kathy Spence, Brittany's aunt

Brittany Gorman was determined to be missing from Houston, MO on 05/21/2020.
She was last seen at a residence west of Mountain View, about 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, and at that time was reportedly believed to be headed to Winona and may have a small dog with a black and brown head with her.
The following day authorities from the National Park Service discovered Gorman's unoccupied pickup truck within Ozark National Scenic Riverways at Buck Hollow Access on the Jacks Fork River, along Highway 17 North at about 1:30 p.m. There was blood found on and around the vehicle.
SHE HAD NOT BEEN REPORTED MISSING.
Special agents with the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch opened a missing person investigation in coordination with the Texas County Sheriff's Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Since that time people have came forward saying they have seen her walking up the road with several descriptions. No one knows for sure if it was Brittany at this time.
"She was just a well-loved person. She had told me that she had came down here to sleep one time. That's the only time that I know of. An officer checked on her one night, but she wouldn't have any reason to be staying here Wednesday."
-Brittany's boyfriend, Gene Roberts
LITTLE ELSE IS KNOWN AT THIS TIME.
Gorman is 5’9″ tall, has blonde hair, and green eyes and a tattoo on her bicep. She may also be with a small white dog with a black and brown head.
