Police issue new call for tips in 2012 cold case homicide

Charles Bates was shot in the middle of the afternoon, March 26, 2012, near 80th Street and Brooklyn Avenue.

Police said there were several witnesses to the shooting and they charged one person, but they had to release the suspect because the witnesses wouldn't cooperate.
