Did anyone wonder if the stepfather had been molesting this little girl while the mother was at work? I don't understand why he got so little time when he is the one who showed the police where her body was and said that he put the rope around her neck, IIRC.

Spears, along with Collings, had originally confessed to the rape and murder of Rowan Ford in 2007. In all of his court filings, Collings asserts that Spears was actually the “mastermind” behind the plan to rape and murder the little 9-year-old girl.

context: Spears was Rowan's stepfather. He plead down and was convicted of child endangerment. He was ultimately sentenced to 11 years and eventually received parole. I am still frustrated by him being allowed to plea down. He confessed to her rape and murder, then threw his cohort under the bus for the crime he participated in. I hope he eventually pays what he owes for that, either in this life or after.

ETA as I was posting this @Synergizer Bunny posted the above. I absolutely do believe Spears was molesting her and the plan for he and his friend to rape and murder her originated with Spears. JMO MOO

STELLA, Mo. (KOAM) — Friday afternoon, April 11, 2025 the Rowan Ford Memory Bench was Dedicated at Tri-Way School where she attended in the East Newton School District.

She was a 4th grade student there when she was murdered in 2007.

This marble bench was created as a permanent place she could be remembered. It was paid for through Tri-Way PTA fundraising, Mount Hope Cemetery of Webb City and Quality Memorials of Carthage.

Teachers and staff who taught and knew her came this afternoon to remember Rowan who will forever be nine years old.

Additionally numerous Law Enforcement officers attended who worked her murder case 18 years ago.

Today is Rowan’s birthday, she would have been 27 years old.
