JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — Delbert Kinsey, 56, left his Jefferson County home around 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 19, just as he normally does.

“We kissed, and we hugged and said goodbye, said I love you,” Marylou Kinsey recalled.

It’s the same ritual they’ve done for nearly 30 years. But, this time, he didn’t make it to work.

“I went back to bed laid down, and his boss called me around 6:15,” Marylou said.

His boss and Marylou retraced routes Delbert could have taken to work. Kinsey is a heavy equipment operator and has been a member of the Operating Engineers Local 513 union for 25 years. His union said this is very out of character for him.

Marylou found Delbert’s truck on Highway B near The Big River. She got out of the car and started looking for him but couldn’t find him.

The dog lost Delbert's scent near the river. Perhaps it was self harm?

JMO MOO my speculation only - of course it could always be self harm, but with those article mentions of him having started to apply for early retirement, I would think he would be looking forward to that. Unless he was one of those people who HAVE to work or feel useless, or there was some contention about what the plans were going to be after he retired.

I know these times are close but I still think it's weird that the times listed are different in the articles above - one says "he left his Jefferson County home around 4:20 a.m" and the other says "his wife told first responders her husband got up around 5 a.m" and left the house for work" and " his boss called me around 6:15" and the other says "at about 7 a.m. his employer called her asking where he was".

Unfortunately I think I've become so suspicious of all the small details that I get in my own way LOL!
