18-year-old Desirea Ann Ferris is 5’1” and weighs 101 pounds, she has brown hair and brown eyes. She may be wearing a fuzzy pink jacket and a cream-colored crop top, she may also have a tan purse.

Her family reported her missing on Thursday. They had last seen her on Monday afternoon when she left home in a vehicle, the type isn’t specified. Calls to her cell phone go unanswered and straight to voicemail. Her family calls this behavior unusual, and it hasn’t happened before.

The family of a missing Liberty teenager now believes there is foul play involved in her disappearance. Dozens of people searched a wooded area near Norfleet and Bannister in Kansas City, Missouri.

"She pretty much just dropped off the face of the earth."

Patty Tam says her daughter Desirea Ferris hasn't been seen in 4 weeks. She says the 18-year-old left her house to hang out with some friends and sent this text soon after:

"I'll be home tonight. I'll see you in a little bit."

But she never came home. Desirea's family says both Liberty and Kansas City police are questioning the group of friends she was with that night. Her family hired a private investigator who got a tip that Desirea was in this area of Norfleet and Bannister before her disappearance.

Family says the 18 year old was wearing a pink jacket, a beige blouse and sweat pants. A group of dozens searched through the woods for hours Sunday afternoon and came up short.

I'd say this family has this situation mobilized and they are not going down without a massive fight. Hope Desirea gets back soon.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- More than a month has passed since Desirea Ferris disappeared. Yet her family continues to search for answers, from Liberty to Harrisonville. Her family last heard from the 18-year-old at the beginning of May.

On Sunday, roughly 80 people searched Swope Park, the second search for her in two weeks.

"I've never been to these areas," said Patti Tam, Desirea's mother. "And they're scary. They're not the best, you never know what you're going to find."

Dozens of people fanned out through the foliage of Swope Park Sunday, hoping to find for Desirea Ferris. At 1,805 acres, it's the largest in Kansas City.

Too bad so many young kids are hooking up with the elements of society that seem cool. Anytime you gotta look for your daughter around Swope park is not good. Possible human remains WERE found today in the area of Banister and Norfleet. Could be her.

The Liberty Police Department continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating Desirea Ann Ferris as they continue to investigate her disappearance. Last seen May 1, she is now considered "endangered missing."

According to Lt. Matt Kellogg, a person can be listed as “endangered missing” when there is suspicion of the person's physical safety is in jeopardy. It's difficult, he said, as adults can walk away on their own.

The event will be held in the parking lot of Sunrise Christian Assembly near 77th Street and Troost Avenue.

Eighteen-year-old Desirea Ferris, of Liberty, MO, has been missing since May.
The Ferris family is still looking for answers, and praying that she comes home safe.
