Nicolas Lestrer, an 81-year-old man diagnosed with dementia, was reported missing after last being seen Thursday morning around 8:00.

Lestrer was last known to be walking along Westmere Drive in the neighborhood south of Brian Forest Drive and west of Kirkwood Road.

His family says his wife died Wednesday and he walked out of his home distraught.

He was reportedly wearing a black tank top and a gray Astros hat with logo when he disappeared.

He may also have his orange cat

This poor man. My stepmom (married my Dad after my Mom died quite young from cancer) had alzheimers. The ONLY person she could recognize was my Dad; had he passed before her it would have been devestating for her.

I hope he is found and brought home soon.

Sad update.

Nicolas Lestrer, who was reported missing on Thursday morning, was found dead on Friday.

His family says he died of a broken heart. Lestrer went missing the day after his wife of 53 years, who had been in hospice care battling cancer, died. He reportedly walked out of his house and that was the last time he was seen.

Sad news, but great they located him fairly quickly. Hoping the kitty is safe.

Bless his heart. But they are reunited now. Rest easy.
