I'm currently working up a layout to do a podcast episode on this case. Originally, the episode was the be about Lisa Irwin that disappeared in the Kansas City Metro, but as I was going through her case, some of the factors rang oddly familiar to me that I had to go searching for this case.
I'm on my 4th day of research, about several dozen coffee's in and there's a couple questions that pop's into my head in a curious/investigative standpoint.
1. It was identified that the couple/couples had used alias names right? Did they provide those alias names from the motel to the dealer that the Chevy was purchased at to see if it rang any bells to him? Did the dealership also not keep records of purchases in a certain time frame that could've been pulled for record to cross compare the names, or is that how they also determined that they were using multiple names?
2. Same with the plates; if it's accurate that they had been switching the license plates, I would assume it was because of the plates on the chevy, right? Since license plates are meant to register to the owner and the vehicle, wouldn't this have been another way of determining that they had been using multiple names/alias? This is also in the concept that since the gas station worker noted writing down the plate for the Thunderbird, then I'd think the Thunderbird and the Chevy are under the same umbrella. Did the plates go to the other car (The TB's to the Chevy and Vice Versa), or were they registered to completely different vehicles? If accurate, there was a snippet somewhere that mentioned the dealer in Michigan that the couple that had bought the Chevy came in about every few years to purchase a new vehicle. If that was the case, again, wouldn't he have records of this that stated who bought it?!
The alias thing is really getting me on this since it seems like that yes they did look into them, and the FBI had supposedly talked to a few people that may have been in relations, but the how seems to be very vague?
