FWIW, the teacher, Bill Currie, is most likely not LDS. The name of the church is similar but not the same as the LDS church.

Bill Currie's Church:
the Church of Latter Day Saints

LDS Church:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

ETA: Also the LDS/Mormon Church don't have Preacher's, they have Bishop's.

(snip)
Early Years: Before Bill Currie's career as an educator, he worked as a Theology major and a re-knowned Preacher at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Nashville, TN. Bill Currie also engaged in many protests for civil rights in his earlier years.

Someone very close to me was a Mormon at one time and he uses the following terms interchangeably:

LDS
Mormon Church
Church of Latter Day Saints

He rarely uses the whole The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Also, as a genealogy who goes to an LDS church often to research, I've never used the entire wording either. It's LDS or Church of Latter Day Saints or, most often The LDS Church.

Just a note we are not allowing rumor threads other than the Haleigh one at this time. I will be deleting that thread.

I didn't know that. I apologize.

AB also has a Facebook page.

  • #65
under what name?

AB went to school with my daughter. My daughter apparently had a run-in with her once in the cafeteria.

Everyone local knows who she is now.

I just wonder how all of her siblings will ever be able to go back to school. I don't see that happening in Jefferson City! They would need to move away and change their names.

The Facebook page is under her whole name. . . A.D.B.

I wondered the same thing. The 20 yr old who killed his 19yr old friend about a yr ago has a younger brother. The younger brother was on a sports team and is doing really well academically. Wonder if the siblings think that could have been one of them>

look upstream ^^^^ They are not allowing (mods) a rumor thread on this case right now... only the Haleigh case at this time.

It is all good... we have this thread and soon enough the info will come out and we can discuss it :-) (yes, I am a glass half full person on most days... except Mondays LOL)

I believe the thread was deleted, as the only rumor thread the mods are allowing as of now is one on Haleigh.

  • #76
Ok, I see now, we are not allowed to have a rumor thread on Elizabeth.

"Here in Missouri, we do have what you call 'dual jurisdiction,'" Couty noted, "where an individual could be committed to the Division of Youth Services and, at the same time, to the Department of Corrections."

Under that state law, if an offender younger than 17 is tried as an adult and is convicted or pleads guilty to the felony charges, the trial judge may "invoke dual jurisdiction of both the criminal and juvenile codes."

The sentence usually involves being ordered into a secure DYS facility at Montgomery City for "long-term, individualized comprehensive programming" -- if the 40-bed operation has room and the agency agrees to take the offender."
