Endangered child alert issued after 4-year-old Missouri boy taken from grandparents

The Benton County Sheriff’s Department issued a Missouri endangered person advisory for 4-year-old Grayson T. Darnell after his mother, 36-year-old Julie M. Darnell, allegedly entered the home of his grandparents about 3 a.m. and took him. The boy’s grandparents have custody of him.

She left in a red 2006 Buick Lucerne with Missouri license plate MR7U6E. It was last seen at the grandparents house in the 100 block of W. Gold Street in Warsaw.

Suspect is a non-custodial parent. She entered the home of the custodial grandparents, took the child, and left the residence. Suspect is bipolar, with drug-induced schizophrenia. Suspect is believed to be using methamphetamines.

Oh man, this is not looking good. The non-custodial parent does not sound stable in any shape. I hope that the fact that they are now on foot (for the time being) will make it easier to find them safely.

Moniteau County is very close to Warsaw in Benton County -- half hour, forty-five minute drive. Implies someone is helping Mom IMHO?

Lake of the Ozarks reaches into these counties, many people have lake houses that are used for weekends/vacations, did Mom know of an empty house???

I think they found the car in that county and that’s where they saw the woman & child walking off in the field. I may be mistaken. Let me re-check the article I read.

Edit: Oh wait, never mind, I misread your comment. I get what you’re saying. Yeah, sounds like someone is helping them, likely the mother’s family.
