I have not seen where his union is even supporting him . . . have you?

The default, as other posters have said, is that the police union supports their officers in officer-involved shootings, unless it is deemed a "bad shoot."

He was threatening them. Maybe it looked like he was ok to you but to me he wanted to die. Once he come towards them in the manner he did it was done. jmo

Why couldn't they taser him? I know that's probably beenasked lots but I have had trouble keeping up with these threads!

I donated due to the enormous legal bills he's going to encounter

I support Officer Wilson & every LEO sacrificing their time & energy to serve & protect us

Is Officer Wilson on paid leave? Is a city employee allowed to keep money in the form of donations? Just curious. Thanks

My understanding is that MB MAY have touched the officer's gun earlier, in the patrol car. At the time he was shot, there is no indication that MB was trying to take away OW's gun. He was not near enough to OW at that time to do so.

Not near enough? Witnesses say he was leaning into the car punching OW in the face. Isn't that near enough?

What's that mean--- 'may have touched the gun but no indication he was trying to take it? ' :waitasec:

Once someone has already punched you in the face and gone for your gun, you are passed the point of tasing someone.

IMHO but we're not hearing about OW because there is an investigation going on . . . actually 2: one by StL County & one by FBI; I have no doubt he's represented by StLs finest attorneys

IMHO it's disgusting that the MB defense is on every single MSM broadcast "trying" the case in the media & not in a court of law -- what happened to innocent until proven guilty? Especially when it has to do with our LE

IMHO it's going to backfire once all the evidence is available to the masses

??? "MB Defense" ??? Unless the American System of Justice changed while I was sleeping, the "Defense" in this yet- to- be- determined- by- a- Grand- Jury criminal case is the as- yet- unnamed attorney for the person who killed MB. IF it becomes a court case, the defendant would be Darren Wilson. IMO

I asked some LEO that post on another forum about legal bills. Apparently the city/gov entity covers that when officers get sued or charged in the line of duty (unless the police department itself declares the action a "bad shoot" etc... which has NOT happened).

I am praying there will be no indictment so our donations can be spent as Officer Wilson likes.

Would that money, if it were donated for his defense, go right into the Union's defense fund or benevolent society?

Wow, I bet that poster is "Josie" IIRC, "Josie" was a pseudo-name. A little difference I notice is that the boys "bum-rushed" DW at the car as well.

Click on her name and look at the FB URL name:)

It's not a celebration by any means but in support of Officer Wilson & every single LEO who places his/her life on the line every single day in specific places in America

Every LEO could be a "Darren Wilson"

oh, BTW - there are 2 investigations going on; media is driving this frenzy of wanting MORE information

It looks like a celebration. It looks like they are deciding everything without even having the facts completely. Just like the other side.
I don't believe every officer could be DW. Yes they all put their lives on the line but very few officers ever kill anyone.

I still have to wait to hear more because I don't believe that PO have a license to kill without just cause and I believe they should be held to the highest standard.

Sorry I was talking about the other case where the man was asking the police to shoot him.

Not the union, the gov entity that hired him (i.e. city, state). I was worried about legal fees so asked the question on a small firearms forum that I frequent, the LEO there told me he should be fully covered with regards to lawyers.

The story said because his coat was too thick.

I don't even know if Ferguson's police department has taser guns. Do they?

Well, there are (to me) many indications that this job should be approached differently in the Ferguson/St. Louis area and probably a number of other cities in the USA. For example, going back to community policing, where officers know and live amongst the residents they are supposed to serve and protect.

I totally agree with the community policing effort but MO passed a law that officers do not need to reside in the community they serve ('cause then certain areas would have no LE protection; what LEO can afford a $1M house in 63131) -- may be one reason why there is a lack of trusting LE in certain areas

I just can't figure this protesters out. 1 minute it's "F the police" "any good cop is a dead cop" then throwing things and taunting.
I was watching the other night where some protester shot a gun in the middle of the scene and a protester got shot in the hand.
Somone wrapped it with a gas mask scarf and what did they do next? Ran this guy to the police FOR HELP. Good grief,
FU then please help us? That's mighty hypocritical!

Some of these protesters should take a look at Detroit as to what happens when LE pulls out. Bullies thrive and the rest suffer...

The fund I donated to was for "legal fees or other expenses benefiting Officer Darren Wilson and his family". The fund goes to the recipient, NOT an entity such as a union etc.... Plus I do not believe a union will pay legal fees, the gov entity that employed Officer Wilson took on that obligation when they hired him to do this job (Unless the PD investigation itself declares this a "bad shoot").

I watched the whole video. The man who supposedly had a knife (not visible in the video) was threatening no one. He was walking fairly close to/parallel to the police car and was ignoring commands, but he was on the other side of a low concrete barrier and was not advancing on police or threatening them in any way. He told police to shoot him with his hands in the air. He clearly seemed mentally ill to me.

Did you listen to the business owners call to 911? She was afraid by his erratic behavior enough to lock the door of her business and call.

The mentally ill can be deadly dangerous too.

JMO There is always the possibility that MB tried to deflect the weapon by pushing it away..........dunno.....we need forensics.........but that could explain the "gash" or "graze" wound in his right hand....again, forensics, please. JMO
