I was reading about Watts riots of 1965. Dr Martin Luther King visited Watts and my opinion is some civil rights leaders could benefit by spreading his message(s) today.

This is so true. It's not like blacks invented riots! People have rioted since the beginning of time!

What I wonder is if it only "loosely" fits, such as the question about the car being put in reverse- that could be a conflicting detail, but the gist of the stories could match up. imo.

So here is another question for you. Do you think the Chief released a statement that DW was injured because of all the misinformation that was being circulated as fact regarding the fracture? Whenever a news article says there information is from "inside sources" you have to wonder how accurate it is. Did anyone actually confirm Josie's story or was it just someone randomly calling with a story??? Not that we should sleuth her, just what kind of confirmation did MSM get.

You don't have to look for the information, just wondered if anyone has this information to consider for the media thread.

If she's a friend of Officer Wilson's family, it would match up though right? The story would have come from him, indirectly? Unless I'm thinking of someone else.

I can't imagine what it will be like if the GJ finds that the shooting was justified.

I also cannot imagine what it will be like if they decide to indict OW. Then they will be wanting an immediate trial and it may take years before going to trial. And then we will hear about how that is also unfair to them.

The law seems to be more fair to defendants than to victims when there is a crime committed. The Prosecution has to protect the rights of the defendant, that's what I think they will have a hard time accepting IF it comes to that.

I can imagine the remainder of the force walking off the job if it happens. I wouldn't stay, knowing I could be proscuted for protecting myself on the job.

Thee two wounds that were questionable were the hand and the graze on the lower arm- not part of that array. nd that makes sense to me, given how the lower arm could be in any of a million positions, where as the part near your shoulder has much less mobility, cannot twist like the lower arm.

Great thoughts and I don't know the answers. Just some thoughts. Originally, my opinion was that they should be on at all times while on duty. I don't know the realities of being able to store that much data though. Maybe the simple answer is, if an officer is involved in any kind of confrontation, there is a presumption that the officer was acting unlawfully if the camera was off. It's just a presumption, so it can be overcome with evidence that he acted lawfully but that evidence cannot rely solely on the cop's word. I would think that this would give an officer to ensure his camera is turned on before any interaction with the public and yet give him discretion to turn it off if he's just driving or sitting in his car with nothing going on, maybe talking on the phone to his wife. I don't know, just throwing something out there.

But what if something happened so fast he didn't have time to push the button before he was in a fight for his life? What if the camera malfunctions? (I know mine always does just when my cat is doing something so heartbreakingly adorable that it would instantly catapult...heh....her to internet fame and make my fortune.) I don't know, I guess I don't think the body cams are the end-all, and plus I think their use will mostly be for the officers' protection. Not that I'm opposed to that, I just don't think it's going to the panacea some think it will, plus the privacy concerns I cited above. Interesting to speculate on, though!

FOIA lawsuit update:

Finally, after much pushing, the St. Louis County Clerk has sent us to family court to get the records. We have a hearing before Judge Ellen Levy Siwak and are scheduled to have hearings on September 3, 2014 in Division 11. We are petitioning her to get those documents.
