THANK YOU! What do you all theorize is the significance? Does it show that DJ may have been involved in the scuffle? That's what I gather of it.

The bracelet at the car could definitely indicate he was involved in some way. The big question is: was he acting in concert with MB, or was he possibly trying to stop what was going on?

What a convenient place for a bracelet to suddenly break off and fall to the ground on its own as DJ innocently stood to the side and witnessed the event.
Isn't it ironic? Don't cha think?

Why is that a less effective punishment in your eyes? I actually think that was pretty clever of his Mom and a pretty bad burn! Given typical sibling rivalry and the love of boys for their gaming systems, I think it would be MORE hurtful to see his brother playing the game system HE wanted every day. I bet he learned his lesson about misusing his Mom's money!

And I bet he & his brother shared it. IMO

There is no way of knowing that. However, I have had teen cousins who kept their gaming systems in their rooms and only played them alone or with invited friends.

I thought it was interesting when one of the experts they talked to in that interview said something to the extent of "in some departments, police are trained to keep shooting up the body until they reach the head. Really? Is that true? I had always heard that shooting center mass was the most effective way to stop someone coming at you. Any "gun people" who can confirm/deny that?

I have never heard that. It's always been "aim center mass" in any type of training environment, at least for me in the military. The police are even less likely to want to shoot to kill, so why would they be trained to aim for the head? That makes no sense!

Any LEO around that can confirm or deny?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-wlDI6hg18 Al Sharpton Show interviews DJ

After telling AS about walking away from Ofc. Wilson, who was still in the same spot where he initially spoke to MB/DJ [i.e. OW hadn't driven away; they just walked off!!!], OW backed up/around them, putting himself in front of them again.

DJ: "Mike's hands are filled with cigarillos." "We have cigarillos in our hands." "His [MB's] hands are not free. His hands are filled."

DJ then says OW "opens his door an inch or so" and the force of that door [open 1"?] hit MB and "ricocheted back" making OW livid. OW reached through the window and grabbed MB by the neck/shirt, at which time MB, hands still full of cigarillos and DJ's too I imagine, said or motioned to DJ to "Hold these." DJ: "I grabbed them outta his hands."

Does that make DJ an accomplice to the beatdown of OW?

LE must have had a field day questioning him. He's had so many changes to his story it's hard to keep up!

And a car door opened an "inch or so" ricochetting back? How exactly does that happen? And if the inch or so comment is in fact true, there goes the theory that OW was injured by it.

Any one catch a screen shot or link to blood on the car door?

At the late night repeat, I had my camera in hand, waiting for video. But they didn't show it. :(

At the earlier show (7 p.m. ET) they actually repeated that segment half an hour later! Just when Mark O'Mara started talking, they switched from the panel to that video and showed the car with the blood for just one or two seconds. I was prepared for the late night show (11 p.m.) with camera in hand. In the meantime, I looked through many videos and pictures online but could not find any.

Weren't MB and DJ apparently hit by the police cruiser's door? Could the bracelet being knocked off have happened then?

High possibility. I wonder why DJ never mentioned it?

No, you are right. Wasn't trying to disparage the parents, but realize it may have come off that way. My comments in that first line could just as easily apply to me with my kids in the eyes of others.

I think where I go off the rails on this line of discussion is when some excuse his behavior because of his environment or upbringing and then take exception to blaming his behavior because of his environment or upbringing. Both are equally possible in my opinion. I don't take exception to anyone excusing it, I just think the theory I originally commented on is illogical.

ITA. Whether you believe nature or nurture or a little bit of both, it ALL comes down to personal choice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-wlDI6hg18 Sharpton and DJ - Aug. 12

More from that interview, this one showing the mentality on display:

DJ: Described he and his friend walking peacefully along in the middle of the road as traffic flowed around them, seeing OW's cruiser approaching and their remaining in the middle of the road, Ofc. Wilson ordering them to get on the sidewalk "in a real aggressive manner" ... DJ doing his Eddie Haskell bit about their being near their "destination" ... and then came this:

"And we continued to walk, because, you know, I was under the impression, you know, the officer was about to drive off." [~2:00 in the video]

So these two miscreants, both with hands "filled with [stolen] cigarillos" walked off, leaving the officer still in the street. There was no DW driving by, issuing his sidewalk order, driving off, stopping, then reversing back. THEY WALKED OFF!!!

The bracelet was photographed at the scene on the ground next to OW police car.

DJ is looking better & better. He knows he can get away with taking the cigars yet puts them back.

I don't know why, but I'm just not ready to give up on DJ yet.

I don't trust a word coming out of his mouth, but with the right guidance I think there is hope for him. I wish the Sharpton, Jackson, et al would offer to pay for a college education for him in addition to MB's siblings.

Or it mysteriously broke/fell off on it's own.

At first it looked like a bullet casing, but it's too "gold" imo.
I just noticed the blood. It's not photo shopped out in this picture like it is in most photos.

In all honesty, casings/brass actually can look very much like gold, in color. I have been helping to clean and prep brass for 223, 308 and 45 casings for reloads and it shines up real nice.

I noticed what appears to be blood on the inside visor of the cap quite a while ago and have pondered ever since. Guess I'll have to accept, for now, that that is where the cap came off, but in the earliest video taken by Piaget, there appears to be (what I thought was the cap) about 3 to 5 feet from MB's corpse, on the yellow line in the road. I saw that before CNN blurred out his corpse, but they also blurred out whatever it was I saw ahead of him. For a while I assumed it was the cap but then I saw the photos of the cap near the SUV, marked by orange cones. ?????Maybe I was just mistaken. If not, the cap (critical evidence) was moved. I find the whole crime scene disturbing. Police are stomping all over it, when there could well be blood spots, blood trail, bullet casings, bullets, etc. The gold bracelet (or watch?) is curious. Why hasn't the OW camp alleged anything about DJ? And how could he have lost the bracelet? I have no answers, just questions. JMO

Yesterday or the day before someone provided a link to an article (I think it was Newsweek) about gang activity and recruiting and initiation in the St. Louis area that really opened my eyes. The peer pressure on economically depressed teens is powerful. I suspect, MORE powerful than the pressure (if any) on them by their guardians to get a job and go to school and be a respectable, law-abiding citizen. I imagine that MB was seeking recognition from both sources of pressure..........so his parents saw the would-be, jesus-loving, college student and his peers saw him as an up and coming gangsta. JUST MY OPINION.

Good observation. I would add the following...

There is probably more incentive to take the bad road rather than the good. Getting up at a particular time to go to church, school, or work requires more discipline and effort than waking up, hanging out, smokin' and drinkin'. "So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed..." - imagine if Wiz and Snoop had mentioned that these things alone may not get you into trouble, but if you have no income, education or responsibility, the answer to "so what" might be that you are destined to have a difficult life.

Also, I can appreciate parents thinking and wanting to believe the best for their kids. Emotionally, we want to think our kids are superstars and successes. But intellectually, we have to check them once in a while, that is our duty as parents. Again, not judging Mike's folks, but there is a question of whether these folks were naive or they knew Mike had some issues. I don't care much about the juvenile record as far as it relates to the shooting itself. But if he has a cloudy past, that does speak to Mike's character and morals both in how he was presented and what he may have been capable in that street. Honor your son by highlighting the positives, but don't manipulate or ignore what is obvious.
