Mike Brown Shooter: Anonymous Hackers Threaten Ferguson, Missouri, Police If Demands Aren't Met

Perhaps most disturbing were links to pictures of a young man who Anonymous claimed was Belmar’s son sleeping on a couch. Another showed his wife and daughter arm-in-arm and, even more, they threatened to release his daughter’s name if the name of the officer who shot Brown was not made public before eventually backing off.

This is why the majority of LE with families lives outside the city limits. Wives of police officers are always, always on alert regarding their children. It is real and it is always a potential threat when there is a shooting. No sane officer wants to put his family in this position but it does happen.

Yep.

"Rarely do small, suburban departments require officers to live in the communities in which they work. As a result, very few do. Some officers commute from as far away as Lincoln and Jefferson counties. Darren Wilson, the Ferguson officer who shot Michael Brown, lives in Crestwood"

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...cle_a29dc3e4-91bb-5cf5-9b30-9ebb95c5e1c6.html

Yes, and I recall the one article that talked about Ferguson hiring a City cop when there was merit found by IA that he beat a 12 year old girl with his pistol and hired another cop from the Jefferson County Sheriff's department when he had claims of unlawfully beating a 12 year old child who was getting his mail. I don't know, but I doubt either of those moved to Ferguson from St. Louis City or Jefferson County just to get the job. In fact, all of the cops that I know personally that work in the north county municipalities do not live in those municipalities. They all live in west St. Louis County or St. Charles County.

We do need to get back on topic. There have been plenty of links provided regarding why officers are instructed to carry out deadly force in this thread and previous threads. Please feel free to refresh your memory. If you disagree with the information you find regarding the use of deadly force in other matters there is a political thread in the basement. This thread is for Michael Brown discussions only.

Thanks, Lambchop

NO imo. You get a negotiator in

Moo only but you get a negotiator into the mix if there's been a hostage taken, or if the suspect is alone & contained inside a space (not out amongst the public) or if it's a suicide a attempt where there appears to be possible threat to another person.
However, if the subject is in public, committed a crime, was wielding a knife & was approaching LE; it's too late for a negotiator. He is a threat to himself & everyone in the area. If anyone could predict his next move or "talk him down" is kidding themselves.

]It wasn't like they could have caught him with a butterfly net[/B]. He had a knife in his right hand and was coming toward the officers.

I know this is a serious topic and all, but this literally just gave me the biggest chuckle!!! Thanks for that!!! :loveyou::laughing:

Police don't just have guns and butterfly nets though, do they? They generally have effective nonlethal weapons like tasers and pepper spray and also have police training in subduing suspects.

When someone is attacking them with a knife or even a toy gun they have the right to expect to come home after their shift is over that's all.

Odd....a fund for a certain officer was closed yesterday, short of the goal. No message posted as to why.

I have a feeling said officer is having psychological problems about the loss of life. I can't think of any other reasons.

Speculation only, based on some conservative blogs and the support ODW FB page, but....

MB supporters were leaning on 🤬🤬🤬 to disallow this particular donation page because IF OW gets charged, it would violate GFMs TOS regarding financial exploitation of a crime.

Which is stupid because NOBODY has been charged.

BTW, I was shocked that 🤬🤬🤬 charges 7.9%! Thieves! I thing Paypal is the way to go, JMO.

Please remember we cannot link to political papers and there are a lot out there. Make sure they are MSM or their associates, such as city news.

When someone is attacking them with a knife or even a toy gun they have the right to expect to come home after their shift is over that's all.

But shooting a suspect to death is not universally the only way to accomplish this goal.

But we can paraphrase and acknowledge that it is opinion or rumor and not fact, right? (I hope I am getting the hang of it now!)

Is there a link that tells us all Ferguson LE live in other communities? I believe they have to live within the area. It's been that way within LE for years.

LambChop, the msm articles linked below touches on the residency requirement for police & firefighters. Many states and municipalities do not have residency requirements for public safety employees. From my info, residency requirements are usually regulated by state legislatures/state constitutions and vary from state to state.
I am retired from the Atlanta Fire Department, and the City of Atlanta attempted to pass an ordinance in the 1980's requiring residency for police and fire personnel which was struck down by the GA Supreme Court as unconstitutional...

<sniped - read more>

Most Police Don’t Live In The Cities They Serve
On average, among the 75 U.S. cities with the largest police forces, 60 percent of police officers reside outside the city limits. (These figures exclude Honolulu, for which detailed data on residency was not available.) But the share varies radically from city to city. In Chicago, 88 percent of police officers live within the city boundaries — and in Philadelphia, 84 percent do. But only 23 percent do so in Los Angeles. Just 12 percent of Washington police live in the District — and only 7 percent of officers in Miami live within city limits.

State Supreme Court rules to get rid of city employee residency requirements

The Missouri Supreme Court upheld a state law Tuesday giving the state power over the city of St. Louis in residency requirements for firefighters.

Residency requirements are rules about where city workers must live.

The court ruled that because regulating residency requirements is not fixing the powers, the legislature can create laws on them.

Missouri Municipal League Deputy Director Richard Sheets says the league is very disappointed.

....and just jumping off of what you have said above (which I totally agree with) is this: law enforcement officers frequently file a confidentiality agreement for public records in my county to protect their addresses in order to protect themselves and their families from vigilantes/ gang bangers / vendettas / revenge-seekers, etc.

It is sad they have to do this but this is the society in which we live.

And, cops around here wear concealed weapons ALL day and night when out and about town. Even with their kids and out doing errands. Because one of the most dangerous situations is when they are in town with their families, and vulnerable to attack if they run into someone they have arrested and/or fought with on the job.

Cops have a very high divorce rate and ultra high suicide rate, and it is often due to the non-stop stress that comes with the job.

These freaks are terrorists!

I provided a link as an example of why LE places their families outside the city where they work. All threats are real and in this case pictures were not taken of the family by someone living in a foreign country. It's personal. This has been an issue with LE ever since the riots in the 70's. I don't need a link because I lived through that and can verify it by my own personal experience. For police it is a real threat.

I wouldn't take any chances with the safety of my family. Would you?

I've seen Ferguson protesters throw glass bottles, molotov cocktails and bodily fluids at LE, I would consider that a vendetta against LE, absolutely!

But we can paraphrase and acknowledge that it is opinion or rumor and not fact, right? (I hope I am getting the hang of it now!)

I know you are new EvilSoup so l will try and explain as best I can. If a link has a video and you can see with your own eyes that the officers are not sitting in their car when they fire their weapons and you argue that they were not outside the car, it would appear you are baiting. In other words, you are just trying to get a rise out of posters. This is not permitted. So if facts are presented and we know they are facts, such as laws for example, you can state your opinion that you don't agree with the law but that cannot change what the facts are so pretty much it is your opinion. If you keep arguing when posters make the point that it's the law and the officer was abiding by that law, then you are engaging in a circular argument. This means you are arguing just to argue. This is not well received either. Hope that is clear to all who might have questions regarding this. If you have a link that supports your opinion that is not from a political site then you can discuss that.
