A strong arm robbery is the use of force while committing the robbery.

The use of physical force is considered the "weapon." The store clerk was considerably smaller than Brown. No way would a prosecutor consider it a "minor crime" and I do believe Brown was aware of that fact.

Agreed. No problem with protests, but destroying private property needs to stop and I think has stopped.

Will never happen, though I don't know if I'd go so far as to say lying, but rather advocating a position. Regardless of the label, yes, I wish they'd stop as well.

The activists and instigators need to stop lying, calling for OW's death, and tossing out inflammatory rhetoric.

Again, won't touch the lying, but otherwise, agree 100% for whoever is allegedly calling for OW's death. As for inflammatory rhetoric, I agree but at the same time I also understand that sometimes one cannot be heard without it.

The people calling for OW's immediate arrest need to stop doing that.

Agree. Let the process play itself out. I suspect that that is said not so much so that he's arrested but to remind people that they are still demanding justice at the end of the day.

Not sure I'm following. Trying to voice one's opinion? Or is it because they're calling for a highway shutdown? If it's the shutdown, just arrest them. I'm sure those who do it fully anticipate getting arrested. It's the price they are willing to pay in order to insure they're voice is heard.

Well, the ones I mentioned earlier, where I got called on the carpet for using "they." To wit:

MB was a Gentle Giant. DJ and MB were just walking home from the store when the cop stopped and grabbed the Gentle Giant and started pulling him into the car. MB was profiled. He was shot in the back while on his knees surrendering with his hands up. His body was left lying uncovered for hours. He was executed, murdered, and "gunned down in the street like a dog."

And whatever other lies the liars are telling. (I almost said "whatever other lies they're telling," but then I'd get called out again for using "they.")

Other lies might include things like he didn't play football because he was "too timid" (he played offensive tackle). He had a clean record (maybe he only had minor stuff on his record, but it's pretty clear he had a record). He was going to college (he may have been going to trade school, but even that's in question). There have been so many lies so far that I can't keep track of all of them.

Ferguson proposes municipal court reforms, adding police review board

FERGUSON • The Ferguson City Council announced plans Monday to make changes designed to reduce court fine revenue, reform court procedures and start a Citizen Review Board that will help keep an eye on and guide the police department.

“The overall goal of these changes is to improve trust within the community and increase transparency, particularly within Ferguson’s courts and police department,” Councilman Mark Byrne said in a statement.

“We want to demonstrate to residents that we take their concerns extremely seriously. That’s why we’re initiating new changes within our local police force and in our courts.”

While the city is making these changes, officials will hold ward meetings to get public input.

Some of the proposals are on the agenda for the City Council meeting at 7 tonight at Greater Grace Church, 3690 Pershall Road.

Officials said they hope this change will encourage the municipal judge and prosecutor to use alternative sentencing methods, like community service, as punishment.

Another proposed ordinance would repeal the separate offense of “failure to appear” in municipal court. Defendants who don’t show up would no longer face a new fine.

Another ordinance would abolish the $25 administrative fee that goes along with towing costs; the city will now pay for that.

Another would take away a $50 warrant recall fee and a $15 notification fee that goes along with a case where a defendant has failed to appear.
