The city council meetings have been announced in the newspapers routinely. Anyone can sign up for 2 minutes to speak. Most of them were complaining about things not having to do with MB. So there was nothing stopping any of them from speaking before the council earlier.

But, but, but those meetings weren't being live streamed and tweeted about

I'm just sorry last night's meeting wasn't broadcast on all the MSM so the entire nation and the world could see what is really going on.

St. Louis American is another St. Louis paper that is mainly circulated downtown and in north county. Seems to me to be a positive development, as long as the people of Ferguson (and even the other cities of north county) follow through with it. Essentially, some civic leaders trying to educate the citizenship, empower them to vote and to even groom new leaders to run for offices. Seems to be a pretty level headed approach, even saying that calls to recall the mayor may be premature.

A little background on Lacy:

Clay made headlines in early 2007 when, as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (co-founded by his father), he objected to the possible inclusion of U.S. Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee, a Caucasian who represents the majority-African American district in Memphis and had made a campaign promise to attempt to become the first white member of the CBC. Although it is not part of the CBC's bylaws that members must be black, all members so far have been black.[5] Clay told Cohen "that he could not collaborate with the Congressional Black Caucus for the benefit of his black constituents 'until your skin turns black.'

Are there any live links to today's meeting?

But the FBI and DOJ are right in the middle of this investigation. They would get everything, I mean, everything.

I don't think he was referencing the FBI's and DOJ's investigation. I took local to mean the County PD's investigation only.

Clay certainly has his issues. JMO of course.

we're talking about voting b/c the discussion evolved?

I don't get the argument that it's restricting or unfair. What is so difficult about obtaining a photo ID? What happened when Texans received information about the new regulation(s)? Did they all figure it didn't apply to them?

They could just add a photo to their 'victim card'

Problem solved

But that would require the FBI and DOJ to verify the PD's investigation in order to conduct their own investigation. The PD's investigation would have been gone through with a fine tooth comb, no doubt about it. If there was corruption regarding this investigation the FBI would have uncovered it.

It can be. Many retired people DO travel out of the country. I had to stand in that line for a passport, but, once again I did it. It's amazing what people can do when they want something bad enough.

Kudos to you for not making excuses :loveyou:

Rachel Lippmann ‏@rlippmann 17m
Tyus vs. @ChiefSLMPD. Here we go.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 15m

Tyus - we question police shootings because it's a state-sanctioned killing.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 15m

An aunt of Michael Brown is a tenant of Tyus.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 14m

Tyus - I'm seeing a rush to kill.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 13m

.@ChiefSLMPD - police should be able to go home if they do their job legally, morally and ethically.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 12m

Tyus - I wanted to hear you say that citizens should have the right to go home, too.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 10m

Tyus to @ChiefSLMPD - I'm hearing an arrogance from you that everything is all right.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 7m

Tyus - should we have a special prosecutor for police cases? @ChiefSLMPD says they have talked about something like that.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 5m

Tyus asks how many excessive use of force cases have gone to IAD. Dotson says he'll get her that data.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 5m

Excessive use of force doesn't mean it was necessarily deadly. Just that it was inappropriate for the situation.

Rachel Lippmann @rlippmann · 26s

There are two parallel invest for deadly force. One from the Force Invest Unit goes to CAO. IAD is into policy, goes to @ChiefSLMPD.

Wait, wasn't one of the initial demands that they withdraw the "Army"?

Apparently not ENOUGH force has been used imo.

I won't argue that. To be honest, while that article was from today, I almost had the feeling those remarks were made early on. No idea because the article doesn't reference when they were made.
