punch and struggle for gun = tussle/altercation/serious confrontation

strongarm robbery moments before meeting officer = irrelevant

possibly juvenile record = smear tactic (I tended to agree depending on what might have been in it)

advancing on LEO (no matter the million and one ways it has been described by witnesses depending seemingly on the day = execution while surrendering

civil rights demands = subvert justice system and system of government every else (you and I) must observe and receive said demands immediately

and now for the piece de resistance

Full size brick = two rocks

got it.

Thank you! It helps a lot to have the translations, so that we know what's meant.

Since they "sponsored" this protest, they should receive a bill to reimburse taxpayers.

Well sure, and the detained protesters can stage a hunger strike and skip dinner tonight to save the taxpayers more money! Sweet AND peaceful like.

I learned a lot last night while listening to the speakers. I posted a quick set of notes I took on their 'requests/demands.'
- want more black officers, city councilmen, mayors, prosecutors....
- want more black owned businesses in Ferguson
-want police to stop 'harassment' of giving them tickets, etc

I really don't see what the city council has to do with those 'demands.' If they want more blacks in office and in uniform, then they need to run for office, apply for the academy, and go the law school. The City Council does not control that

If they want more black owned businesses then start some. It takes initiative and motivation and capital. No one else is going to do it for them. But seeing how some of the business owners have been treated, I wonder if Ferguson would be their 1st choice of location.

As for harassment, that is questionable. Maybe SOME people are being harassed. But I think that many people count routine police interactions as harassment. I got a ticket once for not having my seatbelt on 'correctly. ' My arm was above the belt and I got pulled over and got ticketed. On the way to drop kids off at school. If I was black, I could make that sound very 'discriminating racist' harassment. But he was just doing his annoying job.

Did anyone catch that quick interview with the Hand Up United guy?

The reporter said ' u do know that the Browns asked not to be involved with this protest today, right?'

And he laughed and said ' who says?' Crump?

He said, Did u see Crump at our press conference yesterday. No. But u did see the parents right there with us,,,

Excellent post!

To add one,

Mob prevents body transport for ~ 2 hours = Laid in the street, uncovered, for four hours like a dog in broad daylight

Ugh

I don't know if you saw my earlier post about a group of current politicians that is starting and effort to educate people on how to maneuver within the political system, to identify and groom people to run for political office, to assist in registering to vote and so forth. Pretty responsible group if you ask me. Even said people wanting to recall the mayor going too far too fast at this point. Hopefully they are successful and if so, I imagine within a year or two time the make up of who we saw on stage last night will look different.

As for harassment, I'm sure you are right on all counts. I have no doubt it goes on. I also have no doubt that some claims are bogus.

Not just "Poor Me Syndrome."

The full DSM diagnosis is "Poor Me And It's All Your Fault Syndrome."
