Are the names of the grand jury members even made public? I thought it was different than a regular jury in that regard... At any rate, to say/imply that they should be afraid for their lives is a bit of an exaggeration, IMO.

People sitting on GJ's have to advise their employers and co-workers that they will be absent from work because they have been called to jury duty. Grand Juries do not meet every day unlike normal juror's called for jury duty for the length of a trial. They meet once a week, twice a month, etc. Whatever their schedule is. Friends may be aware they are serving and certainly family member are aware. It does not take much for information about those on a GJ to get around because people do talk. So it would be a concern for those GJ members if there are threats that they may not want the exact time they finish up released to the public.

Each state is different in time served but generally the rules are the same.

According to Johnson, the officer pursued Brown and fired another shot. which struck Brown in the back. He said Brown turned and faced the officer with his hands raised.

and Baden's spouting off to the media proved this narrative wrong/incorrect

Dorian IMHO is responsible for the crazy that ensued in Aug & continuing today

AND he's in protective Federal custody.

Yet you don't hear anything about that...............

IMHO it is CNN who's been focusing on chaos -- who wants to deny that!

So it would be a concern for those GJ members if there are threats that they may not want the exact time they finish up released to the public

DJ is in protective custody. OW is in protective custody. There have been death threats made against OW, as well as against the officer who was wrongly named prior to the release of OW's name. I believe there were threats made against the city council. There have been statements that the protesters will escalate things until OW is indicted and arrested. There's been rioting, complete with molotov cocktails.

If I were on that GJ, I would definitely want a chance to get out of Dodge before a no true bill was announced. Sheesh, all we need is for one or more grand jurors to be shot dead. Why take any chances?

Why so many feel they are "equals" with those in a position of authority over them. Teachers, bosses, police....
It's a truly frightening trend!

Sometimes under the impression, some threat authorities not as equals but if as authorities were beneath them. With a certain kind of attitude.

Some years ago I have been a landlord for five years. I also notice that many people not only show a certain kind of respect for a landlord but that many don't honor a contract (lease agreement), don't respect others property (trashing and sometimes destroying the apartments). I had to deal with many different kind of people, black, white, hispanic, native American etc, young and old, it's very frustrating and disappointing to see how many fit the above description. JMO.

You are right. I think there is an underlying current of, "Hey! Who do you think *you* are, telling me what to do?", (this is regardless of race, but seems to have more to do with age) paired with an attitude of defiance. I don't get it, myself, but I am old, and was taught to respect authority figures (unless, of course, they're doing something to you that they shouldn't be). Likewise, I am teaching my children to respect authority figures.

However, it's been mentioned so many times, this distrust by the AA community against LEO. I'm sure it exists, because enough people say it's so...but I have to confess, I don't understand it. I don't get it, but it's out there. It's sad that that's a fact. I struggle with the concept that if you aren't doing anything wrong, why would you fear the police? vs. what the other side keeps saying is out there (a reason for this mistrust, regardless of guilt).

My thoughts in red.

The false narrative was the impetus for the pandemonium and the calling for Wilson's head without an investigation. Nearly every bad thing that happened after the shooting can be tied to the false narrative. The witness inconsistency furthered that. Adding the rest of the bullets to the false narrative and lousy witnesses certainly changes the perception of whether Mike had the potential to exhibit behavior that might get him shot. It also changes the perception of Wilson. I've never disputed that we still don't know if Wilson was justified without tox, autopsy, ballistics, etc. but he was far more justified based on what we know today than he was when it was "cop shoots unarmed gentle giant". No one wants to acknowledge that.

I've commented enough times about the witnesses. Consistency between them is not the problem, the problem is the consistency on things that shouldn't be consistent and a lack of consistency on things that should be. These aren't simple errors I would expect out of witnesses who saw a kid get shot. I've tried to discuss the witness testimony in detail, no one wants to do that, they simply want to marginalize those who've impeached them. Not one word on why they should be believed, what is compelling in their testimony, what people feel stands up to scrutiny.

LOL - It is getting somewhat silly, the number of things that are portrayed as no big deal. I recall that some speculated that Big Mike had a tab going at the FM&L for his Swishers in an attempt to minimize the strong arm robbery.

Strong arm robbery...no big deal
Hands on store owner...no big deal
Walking down the middle of the street with a cop approaching...no big deal
Blowing off a cop's directions...no big deal
Tussle...no big deal
Cop's facial injuries...no big deal
Possible gang ties...no big deal
Drug use...no big deal
Possible juvenile criminal record...no big deal
No shots in back...no big deal
Witness inconsistency...no big deal
False narrative to start with...no big deal

Dunno, seems like awfully low standards for one side, other side needs notarized copies of Grand Jury evidence to have an opinion.

Well, local grocery stores DO often have "tabs" - I know my Mom ran one for years, especially after she and my Dad got a divorce and money was tight. I don't know that that was the case with MB, but it DOES happen!

The guys were BLOCKING traffic. That is the only road into the apt. complex. By walking down the middle of the road, drivers would have to go INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC to get around them. I just don't understand why you think it is 'frivolous' for the officer to ask them to get out of the road.

Not long after this incident, I was coming home one afternoon and made a right onto my street...only to narrowly miss smacking into two (presumed parental type) adults and a baby in a stroller plus a guy on a bike. They were in the street just chatting. Now...would a LEO have been wrong to stop and suggest that these people take their chat to the sidewalk where they weren't in danger of being run over by a turning car? The baby would have been the first one hit. As it was, I had to quickly correct to avoid them, placing myself partially in the on-coming lane. If someone had been coming down the hill there, would it have been my fault? Would I have instinctively corrected and ended up smacking the people in the street?

A number of years ago I was coming in to a small town via the highway, only to see a man walking down the center line. As I got closer, I realized that he was "praising God to the highest." I pulled onto a side street and called LEO. Long story short, this man was an elderly retired minister with Alzheimers who had walked for miles from his home into town. When LEO arrived, should they have just let him keep walking? (LE and the family in this case thanked me profusely for calling it in, and I was glad I'd obliged).

OW's initial contact with the two young men was for their safety as much as it was for the occupants of the soon-to-be-coming ambulance. People walking in a street makes no good sense. They are a potential danger to themselves and others. And OW got gobsmacked for his troubles. (Now think on this: Had he just ignored them and moved on...had the paramedics flown through there and hit the "Gentle Giant," would there not be a huge spew of "protesting" against the LEO who "ignored" the "boys" in the street?).

(And for those who insist on it...see large spotted cow with wiggling ears below).
